First Alert, 4ch, 2cam, DVR surveillance. In 'RECORD' page, what is 'Redundancy' click-on for, what is its purpose?

FIRST ALERT 4 CHANNEL DVR SURVEILANCE SYSTEM WITH 2 CAMERAS. DVR MODEL:DVARDM0405. Config/record/record-plan. On that page there is the word 'Redundancy' with a click-on square, which can be checked or unchecked. What is that for? Also on that page, there is PreRecord set at 0 sec, which can't be changed. What is that all about? PATRICK

We had an older system at work, and redundancy on our system was in case you wanted to make two separate recordings. You may want to make a recording on the DVR, but you may also want to output a signal to a remote hard drive. That way, if someone tries to take the DVR disc, you have another copy

Surveillance DVRs write over the oldest data when the hard drive needs more space.

You do not need to manage that manually. It is all handled automatically by the operating system of the DVR.

you will need a multiplexer to connect all your cameras into and out to laptop on the front of the multiplexer you can use the buttons to see one or all the cameras you have installed.
