Internet Explorer 8 takes longer than expected to start.

Symptom:
When launching Internet Explorer, you may notice that Internet Explorer takes longer than expected to start.
Cause:
This issue can be caused if there are damaged or incompatibilities with installed Internet Explorer add-ons. This behavior may be more visible in Internet Explorer 8 due to changes in the way that Internet Explorer 8 handles the internet zones list.

This issue can also be caused if using Spybot and the Spybot immunization feature is enabled.
Resolution:
To resolve this issue, troubleshoot the Add-ons to determine which Add-on may be causing the issue and then disable or uninstall the Add-on and then contact the manufacturer of the Add-on for support with that Add-on.

To do this, follow the steps listed below starting with Step 1.

Note: If you currently have Spybot installed with the immunization feature enabled, you will need to disable that feature until that issue is resolved. If you’re not sure how to disable the immunization feature, contact the vendor for more help.
Step 1: Run Internet Explorer 8 in "No Add-ons" mode to determine if the issue is Add-On related.
loadTOCNode(2, 'resolution'); Internet Explorer 8 add-ons, such as ActiveX controls and browser toolbars, are used by some Web sites to provide an enhanced browsing experience. An error may occur if an add-on is damaged or if an add-on conflicts with Internet Explorer 8.

To determine whether the error is caused by an add-on, run Internet Explorer 8 in "No Add-ons" mode. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, and then type Internet Explorer in the Start Search box.
  2. Click Internet Explorer (No Add-ons). Internet Explorer 8 opens without add-ons, toolbars, or plug-ins.
  3. Test Internet Explorer to verify that it works correctly. If issues still occur, try Step 3.
If no errors occur, the problem is caused by one of the add-ons that typically load together with Internet Explorer 8. In this case, continue to Step 2 to determine what Add-on is causing the issue.
Step 2: Use the Manage Add-ons tool to determine which add-on is causing the issue
loadTOCNode(2, 'resolution'); Use the Manage Add-ons tool in Internet Explorer 8 to individually disable each add-on to determine which add-on is causing errors. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Open Internet Explorer 8.
  2. Click Tools, point to Manage Add-ons , and then click Enable or Disable Add-ons.
  3. In the Show box, select Add-ons that have been used by Internet Explorer to display all add-ons that are installed on the computer.
  4. For each item in this list, select the add-on, and then click Disable under Settings.
  5. When you have disabled all the items in this list, click OK.
  6. Exit and then restart Internet Explorer 8.
  7. If issues do not occur, repeat steps 1 through 3.
  8. Click Enable for a single add-on.
  9. Repeat steps 6 through 8 until you determine which add-on causes errors to occur.
After you have used this process to determine which add-on is causing errors, you can disable that add-on. Or, you can uninstall the software that installs the add-on. We also recommend that you contact the software vendor that provided the add-on for additional troubleshooting and support.
Step 3: Reset Internet Explorer 8 settings
loadTOCNode(2, 'resolution'); To determine whether a performance issue or an error message is caused by configuration settings, reset Internet Explorer 8 to its default configuration. This step will also disable any add-ons, plug-ins, or toolbars that are installed. Although this solution is quick, it also means that, if you want to use any of those add-ons in the future, they must be reinstalled.

To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Open Internet Explorer 8.
  2. Click Tools, and then click Internet Options.
  3. Click the Advanced tab.
  4. Under Reset Internet Explorer Settings, click Reset.

Can not download yahoo toolbar "Internet Explorer

Internet Explorer's Add-on Management feature lets you view, enable and disable the list of add-ons which can be loaded by Internet Explorer. Add-ons include browser helper objects, ActiveX controls, toolbar extensions and browser extensions.
To view or modify the add-ons on your computer by launching Manage Add-ons:
1. In Internet Explorer, click the Tools button, click Manage Add-ons, and then click Enable or Disable Add-ons. 2. To disable an add-on, select it in the list in the Manage Add-ons dialog box and select the Disable radio button. 3. To enable an add-on, select it in the list in the Manage Add-ons dialog box and select the Enable radio button. 4. Click OK to confirm. Note: Disabling an add-on does not remove it from your computer. It simply prevents Internet Explorer from executing the add-on's code-it does not prevent other software from executing the add-on. If an add-on is disabled, website pages that rely on that add-on may not work as expected. For more information on Add-ons, click the "Learn more about add-ons" help link in the Manage Add-ons dialog box.

PROBLEM WITH EXCEL

  1. Click the Microsoft Office Button default.aspx?assetid=za100771021033, click Excel Options, and then click Add-Ins.
    1. View the add-ins and application extensions that are categorized as follows:
    2. Active Application Add-ins Lists the extensions that are registered and currently running in your Office program.
    • Inactive Application Add-ins Lists the add-ins that are present on your computer but are not currently loaded. For example, smart tags or XML Schemas are active only when the document that references them is open. Another example is the COM add-ins that are listed in the COM Add-ins dialog box. If the check box for a COM add-in is selected, the add-in is active. If the check box for a COM add-in is cleared, the add-in is inactive. To learn how to open the COM Add-in dialog box, see the section called Turn off or manage the installed add-ins.
    • Document Related Add-ins Lists template files that are referenced by currently open documents.
    • Disabled Application Add-ins Lists add-ins that were automatically disabled because they are causing Office programs to crash.

    Unlocking my games

Stephanie, you don't say the operating system you are using.

The games do not have to be unlocked but they may not have been loaded. In XP, go to the Control Panel and then Add or Remove Programs. On the left side there are four buttons, select the third, Add/Remove Windows Components. Click Accessories and Utilities and you will see a check box for Games. Check it and press OK. It may ask for a Windows CD to load from, but the CAB files are probably loaded on your system. Then the games will appear in your All Programs listing in a folder called Games.
