There are three drain holes. Two are easy to spot. The third one is on the far right when looking down at the front of the cleaning station. It's to the right of the small wall in the rain cup. Almost impossible to see. Top left corner inside the chamber on the right. You can use a piece of wire or a toothpick to clear out that hole. If you hear any bubbling when the solution is draining out of the station, then that hole is clogged. There are three drain holes. Two are easy to spot. Most likely, the pump is bad. This can not be replaced. You will have to replace the clean and charge base. You will find a replacement at shaveroutlet.com. See link below
pit back in the charge station for at least 4 hours and switch the power on for the charger
many small battery chargers will flatten the battery if the power is switched off
if that fails , contact amazon for a return letter to get you warranty refund

I figured out the problem for my Clean & Renew unit. Mine is 2 years old. About 3 months ago, I cleaned the buildup of whisker material from the TOP of the drain port [Left Side as you look at the unit] If you take out the cleaning solution cartridge and turn the unit upside down, you see the pump and the return ports. The return port is the smaller of the two. I found that there was a mass of dried whiskers in a few clumps clogging the return port. These clumps must have come loose and got caught within the drain port. I had noticed when I had the leaking problem I could hear bubbling just after the pump ran and the shaver turned off. I removed the clumps of whiskers and no more bubbling sounds and NO MORE LEAKS. My guess is that the fluid was draining back into the intake area and leaking on top of the cartridge. Hope this helps.

To open model 8985 you will first need to gently pry off the 'cap' on the bottom that surrounds the hole where the cord plugs in. Once removed the side grips will pull off revealing 4 screws. Remove screws to take off back cover and access insides. Inner parts simply lift out.
If replacement parts are required, you will find all components for this model at shaveroutlet.com
The circuit board on the shaver may have become faulty. One thing you can try is to fully charge the shaver first, directly connected to the outlet, and then try using the cleaning base. Also, be sure that the fluid level is sufficient. Lastly, you may be able to buy a used but working condition cleaning station off of eBay. New replacements are a bit costly.
Put a few drops of tap water in the solution if the light goes red until it goes out. Cheap, green way to reuse the plastic container!
