My coby tv won't turn on or control the volume with ether cable remote or original remote

I unplugged my TV for 5 minutes after 5 minutes I pressed the Power button on the side of the TV not the power button on remote for a full minute. Plugged the TV back in, pressed the power button and it turned on. Doing this essentially does a reset.

This is not unusual--Dish and other remotes even if program will not have all the functions that may be needed---

First of all, you must ahve its original remote control to unlock FPA lock. If you have it, go through the folloing steps.
* Hold down Menu button on the remote control, and the Volume Down button on the at the same time for at least 4 seconds. "The set won't say so, but the lock will be released".
** Hold down Zero button on the remote control, and the Volume Down button on the TV. The set won't say so, but the lock will be released.
*** Hold down Menu button on the front of the TV and the TV button on the remote at the same time for at least 4 seconds. The set won't say so, but the lock will be released.

I have provided instructions on how you can program the remote to your TV:

• Remotes: Basic (Television Only)
  1. Turn the Television On.
  2. Press and hold the clear TV button for three seconds until the LED flashes.
  3. Enter the three-digit code using the buttons on the number pad.
  4. Press #. Note: The LED will flash three times.
  5. Test functionality with the TV.
  6. Return to Step 2 if the remote is not able to turn the TV On/Off, change the volume and mute the television.

the code that's entered on the remote is the wrong one for the tv. use the instructions for the remote and get the correct code.. for your model or search ebay for the exact remote. also child lock maybe activated on the tv meaning you cant use the buttons on your tv until you use menu on the remote to take it of.

*Tip: The iO button will light on for 20 seconds. The

next step must be entered while the iO button is
on.

STEP2 Press the [INFO] button.

The iO button will blink number of times indicating the

number of each digit of the code number. Each digit is

separated by a 1 second interval of the iO button being

turned off.

Example :One blink, three blinks and eight blinks with

an interval of 1 second of iO button being

turned off, indicates the code number 138.

Note :Ten blinks is equal to the number 0.

D. Program the Volume Controls.

By following the steps below, the user can program

the volume controls (Volume UP, Volume Down and

MUTE) . The default volume control settings on the

remote control is TV volume control. If you wish you

can control the volume via your CABLE box, use the

following steps.

STEP1 Press the [CBL] button and the [SEL] button

simultaneously for 3 seconds. The iO button

will turn on.

*Tip : The iO button will light on for 20 seconds.

The next step must be entered while the

iO button is on.

STEP2 Press the [VOL +] button.

STEP3 Press the [CBL] button.

The iO button will blink twice to confirm the

programming.

To return to original state:

If you wish you can control the volume via your TV,
repeat the above steps by pressing [TV] in STEP3 .

Unfortunately that is how this unit is designed, you cannot adjust the volume while inputting from an external source, normally the subwoofer would have an AUDIO control, but this one has no knobs, the VOL +/ VOL- on DVD remote only controls while watching a DVD. Only work around for this is if your TV has a 3.5MM headphone jack, you can get a 3.5mm to RCA cable and then your television would be able to control the volume.

There are no universal remotes compatible with any of Coby's televisions. You can get a replacement original from www.remotes.com

1. Press and hold the TV key. 2. While holding down the TV key, press OK. 3. Release both keys. The Device Keys will blink twice.
Ideally we do not have code for coby TV. So we need to manually program the remote
TV and Cable box should be both powered on.
4. Press 9 - 2 - 2. 5. Point the remote at the TV. 6. Press PLAY Press FAST-FORWARD. Every time you press FF the remote sends out a new power-off command to the TV. Keep pressing FF until the TV turns off. (You can press REWIND to go back 1 code.) 8. When the TV turns off, you have found the right code. Press OK to store this code. 9. Press TV and the power should go on. You will now have volume control also.

TIP: Press ff slowly so you know when it powers off and when you need to save the code by hitting OK after it powers off.
