Assumed you have cleaned out the feeding slot and sprockets that turn the feeder wheels. Often there's some piece of paper or gunk. One option that likely applies to most printers -- from another HP online source: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00190540&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en
IMPORTANT : The paper pick roller is a bit more difficult to reach; however, it is the most important part to clean. Make sure to clean it thoroughly. If this roller is not clean, the issue will likely continue.

Make sure you fan the paper before you put it in the input tray.
Make sure the curl of the paper is down. (Hold the paper up by one corner, there will be a definite curl to the paper).
Open the printer driver status window.
The printer driver settings such as paper type and position of the paper thickness lever are displayed in the Settings Preview on the left side of the printer driver screen.
Display the Settings Preview and check the specified settings.
To set the paper thickness lever on the printhead carrier:
With the printer on, raise the top of the printer so that the printhead/ink cartridge carrier is centered. Make sure the paper thickness lever is in the paper position and not in the envelope position.
This is the only thickness adjustment.
