Why no channels displayed after hooking up a digital tuner to the LTV 32w3 HD TV via the HDMI connection? The digital tuner was connected to an HD antenna.

The TV was set to the HDMI selection. The screen was a darker blue than the default screen. If I turned off the tuner the TV displayed no signal so it TV knew the tuner was connected.

SOURCE: problems with ltv-32w3 hd

You need to replace the LCD controller board, there are two versions (V320B1-C, 35D003848) you need to open up the tv and remove the shield cover to get to the LCD controller board, this is a common problem with this model. Look here parts (make sure to get the part number of the LCD panel sticker to match wit the LCD controller): http://www.shopjimmy.com/catalogsearch/result/index/?q=LTV-32W3HD&stock=all

You cam see the one I fixed here: http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/yy352/budm/LTV-32W3HD/

Notes: be real careful when you remove the back cover, the side switch assembly is attached to the back panel, so do not pull it off too far, or you will damage the switch assembly!

SOURCE: bad color

Chances are it is the connector on the "lvds" cable where it attaches to the lcd controller board. Detach the connector and clean any glue or tape residue off of it with isopropyl alcohol or electronics cleaner and then reattach it.

Westinghouse LTV-32w4 HDC widescreen DVD Combo

Hi Mouse999. From reading a bit, it seems that there's no region free hacks for the built in dvd player in that specific model. A solution for you, would be to purchase a standalone dvd player, one that is region free or one that has a region free hack available, and to connect it to that tv. If you're in europe and your tv is pal, you also need to have a dvd player that will read both Pal and NTSC video dvd's ! If that doesn't help, please be more specific, i'll be glad to help. Thanks, cheebster.

The tv gets really fuzzy and changes color after watching it, but i think it has something to do with the wire ports because if i hit menu while its all fuzzy, and when the menu comes up it looks normal,...

check cable connections:
1. cable from wall to tv or to pvr. properly connected?
2. yellow, red and white in correct ports?
3. if HD, use green, blue and red to respective ports.
4. is remote properly sync to tv?
5. if no 3 above, get HDMI cable and connect to pvr.

Connect with componet cables.

The only digital audio input for this TV will be via the HDMI input. Of course, even with HDMI in, you're only going to get a simple stereo output from the TV. You can use the analog L & R audio inputs for a very similar sound from the TV speakers.

The digital multi-channel audio (Dolby Digital, THX, 5.1, 7.1, etc) encoded in the program should be connected to a suitable multi-channel amplifier with either a TOSLINK (optical), RF (coaxial) or HDMI cable for theatre-like sound. This can be done by (a) cabling from the source (DVD, BluRay Disk, Set Top TV Tuner, etc.) directly to a multi-channel amp and speakers, or (b) from the HDMI output of these devices (DVD, BluRay Disk, Set Top TV Tuner, etc.) into one or both of the TV's HDMI inputs. This will provide only stereo sound output from the TV speakers. You should connect the TV's TOSLINK optical "Digital Output" jack with an optical cable to the amplifier's TOSLINK optical input jack to obtain theatre sound.

To listen to the program shown, you would select the amplifier input assciated with the optical, RF or HDMI input that is connected to the source (DVD, BluRay Disk, Set Top TV Tuner, etc.) if connected directly. If the TV HDMI input(s) are used, they are output to the TV optical output and should be connected to the amplifier optical input. The amp input associated with the optical input should be selected to hear the program with theatre-like sound.

We have a westinghouse lcd 32w3 hd and when we hooked up a hdmi for the first time the screen went black and no picture or sound, how do we fix this?

If everything but the HDMI is working, its a possibility that the source has a compatibility issue or your TV needs a software/firmware update needed

Hi, I am in Melbourne Australia. Can I receive gem hd channel thru my dmr-ez48v. I haven't tried but I do have a hd monitor screen that I can plug the unit into. Also what does the hdmi on the unit do....

HDMI means high definition multimedia interface.

When connected to an HDMI compatible unit, an uncompressed digital audio and video signal is transmitted, enabling you to enjoy high quality digital video and audio with just one cable. When connecting to an HDMIcompatible HDTV, the output can be switched to 1080p, 1080i or 720p HD video.

Panasonic uses Viera link option between their video products.

When connecting with a Panasonic TV (VIERA) or a receiver equipped with 'HDAVI Control' function, linked operations are possible. [Linked Operations with the TV (VIERA LinkTM HDAVI ControlTM)]

Please use HIGH SPEED HDMI cables that have the HDMI logo (as shown on the cover).
It is recommended that you use Panasonic's HDMI cable.
Recommended part number: RP-CDHG10 (1.0 m/3.3 ft.), RP-CDHG15 (1.5 m/4.9 ft.), RP-CDHG20
(2.0 m/6.6 ft.), RP-CDHG30 (3.0 m/9.8 ft.), RP-CDHG50 (5.0 m/16.4 ft.), etc.
Non-HDMI-compliant cables cannot be used.

(the above is from the owner's manual of this model - page 40 tells you about linked operation using HDMI HDAVI control and how to set it up)

As for Gem HD, this unit has an SD (standard definition) digital tuner - it will not decode/receive HD channels. I should point out that 7mate also is a HD channel but is not specified as such in any menu or even their website. (I found this out by accident when I tried to record on timer 7mate one day and all I got was 'unable to decode HD channel' banner at the bottom of a blank screen)

Channel 11 is a SD channel - so this will work with your DMR-EZ48 as will all the other relevant main free to air channels (ABC/7/9/10/SBS). GO! is also a SD channel.

To be able to record HD to this combo unit you will need a HD set top box connected via its AV inputs. HDMI simply means you will get HD video quality from the combo to the TV, you will not receive HD channels from your HDTV to your DMR-EZ48 unit via this method.

My picture is not good. I'm hooked up to digital

to get best picture and sound you need to use HDMI connection. This is normally if you have a HD cable box. If you don't have a HD box, use the coax connection directly from the cable line. On your TV, hit the menu button, use the arrow up/down to select manual channel search, select cable and hit enter. this will scan all the digital and analog channels.

Freezes during auto programming

The atsc or qam tuner in your Westinghouse LTV-32W3 HDTV is malfunctioning and needs to be replaced. Unfortunately you will need to purchase a new mainboard since it is integrated. Another option is to return to using an external tuner like your cable box.

I'm trying to get the best picture for my 50'plasma tv. the picture is nothing like the one on display, and i've bought all the required gear

If you are using anything other than the HDMI input with HD programming the picture is going to look blotchy, when you see the tv on display, they are always playing a dvd disc and never have it on cable or satellite channels, this is because since the dvd is a digital format and looks very clean, by using the non-HD connections and since your tv has a digital tuner (mandated by the government) the tuner picks up interference from cell phones, WI-FI and police bands along with the cable signal and gets processed on the tuner, when everything goes to digital in Feb 2009 that will clearup considerably, but as for your question HDMI is the optimal connection to use
