you always want to put a surge protector on all the small and big electronics for if you do not if lightin come in it would burn everything up. you might have had ligting come in and that is why some of your stuff is having problems now. if you own he home get a whole house serge protector. it will save you in the long run becuase if there is surge from the power company or from lighting then all your stuff will be protected.
might be to late to do this now for it seems like lighting all ready hit it

Circuit diagrams to many popular brand TVs are given. Hopes it will help you to point out the IC number.
First, You should to replace by original part, then you should check the voltages on power supply, and check the voltage for vertical IC based on datasheet, also check the voltages on vertical section including yoke and last you should check the ESR capacitors on vertical section.
There is no substitution to this IC number. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts. Surf the site with patience. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
It sounds like you have lost the vertical sweep circuits, it can be the Vertical out put IC is bad, Vertical yoke winding is bad, caps is bad. You will have to open it up, but you must be real careful since the picture tube can hold high voltage (24~30,000 Volts) for a long time after the monitor is unplugged, you will need to discharge the picture tube first before working on it. You may want to leave this to the pro. http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
