I have a kenmore fridge model number 64812 that is leaking water. The problem is I can't find any screws to remove the back freezer panel to clean the drain hole.

I have cleaned the drain pan and hose at the bottom of the back panel.

No one has said where/how to find screws on the freezer floor No screws visible, location? My Kenmore 6412 has no visible screws in the freezer. I put my hand around drain tube at the back of the fridge and blew air into it not sure if it was ice or a blueberry that became dislodged just wish I could take off freezer floor to see looks so easy online everyone has screws visible does anyone know how to take freezer floor off when their are no screws visible?

U more than likely have to remove the bottom plate first and the screws along the back wall are most likely covered with a plastic covering

SOURCE: Our Whirlpool top freezer unit

We were able to fix the freezer water leak. We unscrewed the false freezer floor and the inside back panel. Ice had accumulated on the freezer floor and the defrosting drain was frozen. We removed the ice by using a blow dryer then poured boiling hot water onto the frozen drain hole. The frozen water in the drain pipe hole eventually melted and the water released into the defrosting drip pan at the bottom of the refrigerator. Problem solved. We no longer have water leaking into the refrigerator.

SOURCE: Bottom of freezer has water dripping into it

We had a similar problem. It ended up being a frozen pea that fell down into the defrost drain and was blocking the water from draining out each time the freezer defrosted.

SOURCE: F&P Active Smart E521TRE Removing freezer back panel

My fridge (E440T but I believe the E522B is similar) had a broken fan wire and i had to pull off the rear panel and re-solder a wire. I created a document for others to follow that shows the rear panel removal if interested at http://www.accentis.com.au/downloads/misc/How I fixed my Fisher and Paykel Fridge Active Smart Fridge.pdf

Thanks to all postings on this site - it really helped a lot.

SOURCE: GE TFX20JR side by side/water leaks out freezer during defrost

Yes, you are correct, that is a drain. Use a turkey baster with hot (not boiling) water to flush out the drain tube until water will flow out into the drain pan under the refrig. (where the air blown over it will cause it to evaporate)

Now I think I have other things wrong with mine, after leakage problem the refrigeration compartment wont cool anymore but the freezer part remains working as usual.Ive nailed this down to one of the following not working... Thermostat / timer / defrost heater. So one or more of these needs replacing.Im just trying to look for a manual which shows the nuts and bolts or the refrigerator (not the "How to use" type manual which I have).

Kenmore coldspot model 106 53532300 leaking on the floor, freezer side.

Hi,

please double check that your freezer door is closing properly. You can also pull the fridge out and check whether the water is coming from the back of the of the fridge. If not, then that means there's a leak under the fridge and if that's the case you'll need to schedule a diagnostic on the fridge. You might reach out to Kenmore over the phone directly to ask them to send you a technician for this.

Thank you.

Water dripping from freezer into refrigerator

Hi,Most likely the drain in the freezer is clogged up and frozen. Every time when your fridge automatically defrosting defrosted water dripping inside the fresh food compartment. You have to remove the back panel in the freezer and using a hair dryer defrost the drain which is located under the evaporator coil. Then put very hot water through the drain until it goes free.
Yes, you need to remove the back panel inside the freezer, It should have screws that come out then it should pull off and out.

On your model, the defrost drain hole/line is located inside of the freezer behind that back access panel, just remove that back panel, remove your freezer floor panel FIRST(Has 2 screws in front), that simply pulls out, then you will see the drain hole under the evaporator coil. It may be iced up, you will have to clear all of the ice and run hot water down the drain hole.

Once the back panel screws are removed that panel should just pull off, pull hard. Make sure your refrigerator is unplugged first.

Good luck.

Water leaking from bottom of kenmore side by side fridge.

THE FREEZER MAY BE FROZEN UNDERNEATH THE COILS. UNPLUG THE KENMORE AND GET A VACUMM CLEANER OR A SHOP VAC AND CLEAN THE COILS ON THE BOTTOM OF THE FRIDGE. AFTER THAT REMOVE ALL ITEMS FROM THE FREEZER AND USE A SCREW DRIVER TO REMOVE THE PANELS FROM THE INSIDE OF THE FREEZER TO LOCATE THE COILS (INSIDE) THEY MAY NEED TO BE DEFROSTED DUE TO THE LENT BUILD-UP ON THE (UNDERSIDE) BOTTOM OF THE FRIDGE... HOPE THIS HELPS

All items in freezer were defrosted when I opened the door this morning. Fridge is semi cold.

Hi

Some leaking water refrigerator helps....

  1. My older style Amana freezer on top refrigerator is leaking inside
  2. My refrigerator is leaking water inside
  3. My refrigerator is leaking water onto the floor
My refrigerator is leaking water inside the fridge:

Most times this is a plugged defrost drain system. The defrost heater in the freezer section melts the frost and changes it to water, this water is suppose to flow down a drain system. If this drain system is restricted or plugged the water will leak inside the refrigerator. The drain system starts in the freezer section with a tray built under the evaporator coil. The water is funneled through a small hose into a cup in the top middle of the fresh food section ( not on all models, but this is the most common way ), from there, the water is directed out the back wall to a drain hose that runs down the back of the refrigerator into a condensing tray. The heat created under the fridge makes the water evaporate and disappear. Some of the cups ( in the top back of the fresh food section ) can be removed for cleaning. A turkey baster can be used to help clean out the drain system. Fill the baster with hot water and "blast" it into the drain hose to help flush it out. A piece of wire or pipe cleaner can also be pushed into the drain hoses to help clean then out. On a S x S style of fridge the drain system is in the bottom back of the freezer section and often you will have to remove the evaporator cover to access the drain hole. You can clean this out in the same manner as previously mentioned, but because of the water leaking into the freezer instead of the fresh food section you will have to remove the ice build up to clean out the drain system. For some reason Whirlpool has found a need to "hide" the drain hose inside the walls now ( Whirlpool makes many of the Kenmore branded refrigerators ) on there top freezer refrigerators. This makes accessing the drain hose to flush it out more difficult, no cup inside the fresh food section, no hose down the outside back wall and the only access is inside the freezer section behind the back false wall and under the evaporator coils.

Please do rate the solution as FixYa and revert for further assistance.

Thanks

Leaking water from kenmore freezer to refrig below

its possible that the drain pan behind the back freezer wall is clogged or coverd with ice, sounds like when unit goes into defrost melt water leaks under sides of drain pan and into fridge. unplug and remove back freezer wall if drain is covered with ice defrost the ice, can be prevented by loosely coiling a piece of solid copper wire around element and into drain slightly radiant heat during defrost should keep drain fromicing over. if drain is just clogged wth debris clean drain and you should be good to go, hope this helps you.

How to remove ice/water panel on the outside of the freezer door

Your model number appears to be the same as mine. If you gently pull off the panel marked with the ice/water by placing your fingernails just behind it and pull toward you the plastic panel should come right off. Behind that are the four screws holding the circuit board support to the fridge frame. All I did was pull the four screws, gently removed the wiring harnesses, tilt the plastic holder toward me and remove the two circuit board retainer screws to replace the board. Reversed the process of putting it all together and it worked like a champ.

I hope this helps.

Leaking frig.

  • take out the back wall of the freezer and physically clean out the line. you may need to run a coat hanger or something down the drain to unclog it. also pour some hot water down the drain after you think you have it unclogged.
  • the water is coming from the freezer when is defrosts. the drain line is in the back wall of the freezer and may be clogged up with ice. clean out the freezer and pour some hot water in the very back of the freezer, this will hopefully unclog the drain. if not, then you have to take the back wall out of the freezer to get directly to the drain line. there should just be a couple screws holding it; it is just an aluminum or plastic panel.
