SOURCE: Tape stuck in VCR, won't eject.

you posted 2 different problems here...
to answer this one ". The tape is stuck, won't eject and I'd like to get it out without damaging the VCR unit."...open unit, find motor that moves tape ejector and spin that motor by hand (power off)

the other problem, "the VCR will not insert a tape. It keeps rejecting it."...open unit and fully turn ejection motor until home position is reached...this is a home sensor switch not being activated.

If the belt does not solve problem it could be the idler tyre is worn and/or clutch, this quite often happens when tape has been playing for a while and most of tape is on right hand side, causing greater drag on take up spool.

How can I get my tape to eject?Sharp VC-A560. Played my taped, rewound, but tape would not eject. Tried to play again and it would not play. What can I do?

Unplug from wall outlet - find the wheel that ejects the tape when you slowly turn it. It's usually on the right side when the cover is open. Avoid touching any metal parts.

My sharp VCR wont accept tapes, they pop out when I insert them, help?

This often caused by a faulty carriage assembly. Another cause is a mode switch failure. The mode switch tells the electronics what position the VCR mechanism is in. When it goes faulty it will cause the tape to eject sometimes. However any kind of mechanism damage can cause the mode switch to go into a wrong position.

Sharp VC-H973U suddenly unable to play/record tapes

With these things it's best to see what is going on to see if it can be fixed. So what I suggest you do is take the top cover off and using an old tape which you don't mind getting mangled insert it and watch where it gets tangled up. Without looking into it you can't determine what's faulty.
