On my dyson upright, one of the balls won't turn, and it's the one you can't remove

To remove the ball shell on that side you will need to turn the small round center cap counter clockwise. I usually stick two small Torx screwdrivers into two of the holes to give some leverage to turn the cap. Stick a flathead screwdriver in one of the slots of the nut holding the ball shell on to twist to remove the nut. Try to determine what is causing the resistance to the ball shell moving freely.

My dyson dc25 clicks when i vacume. The orange ball doesnt roll smoothly. What do i need to do?

The ball shell may be broken or damaged or the part on the vacuum where the bolt holds the ball shell on may be damaged. You will have to inspect these areas closely while moving the vacuum back and forth to narrow down where the problem is.

The big ball on the right side came off and I can't get it to stay on, what can I do? It's on a DC41

The ball shell screws on the bolt sticking out of the side of the vacuum. Remove the little cover and twist the ball shell back on the bolt. Sometimes he bolt breaks off and needs to be replaced.

Ball keeps sticking when hoovering

Hi Lyn, it's Jack at Dyson.

If your DC24's ball seems to be jamming when you're vacuuming, it's very likely the HEPA filter housed within the ball has come out of position and is catching on the inside of the ball shell. This is quick and easy to resolve - just remove and re-fit the filter, as shown in our filter washing video guide linked here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aHKlyvVyyiU

When you re-fit the filter, make sure you push it back into position firmly until you hear a click from the red catch.

I'm confident this will resolve things for you. If you'd like further help or advice, you're welcome to contact the Dyson UK Customer Helpline directly on 0800 298 0298. Our experts are available from 8am-8pm from Monday to Friday, and 8am-6pm on weekends. Calls are free from UK landlines.

The ball is locked on my Dyson dc24

Hi Shawn, it's Jack at Dyson.

If your DC24's HEPA post-filter (housed inside the ball) has come out of position, it may be jamming against the inside of the ball shell, preventing the ball from rotating as normal.

This is quick and easy to resolve - just follow the steps shown in the video below to remove and replace the HEPA post-filter. Make sure you push the post-filter back down into position firmly, until you hear a click from the red catch.

I'm confident this will resolve the issue. However if you have any further issues with the post-filter coming out of position in use, it's probably best if you can get in touch with us directly so we can take some additional details. You can reach the Dyson Customer Helpline by calling 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

I have a Dyson DC 41 and the right side of the ball (the non-filter side) won't turn freely; it still turns but feels stuck and the filter side has no issues. Is there a way to remove the ball shell...

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

The issue you've described sounds very unusual. Both halves of the ball shell include bearings, and should rotate freely on the axle. If you can't see anything obvious that could be jamming it, I would encourage you to contact us directly for some help.

Just to make you aware, dismantling the machine any further than is shown in the User guide could void your Dyson warranty, so we would advise you not to try to remove the ball shell without contacting us for advice.

When you have your DC41 easily to hand, please call the Dyson Customer Helpline on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU). Our experts will talk you through some simple troubleshooting checks, and may be able to resolve the issue right over the phone. If not, they can discuss your options for repair.

We'll look forward to speaking with you.

The ball is not rolling freely on the dyson dc 25 upright it sticks and makes a noise as the vacuum is pushed

Inspect closely while spinning the ball looking for a rubbing or restriction. Look for a crack or debris that could be causing it. Remove the ball shell to inspect it looking for cracks, check the bearing and the area the ball shell connects to the vacuum to try to find the cause.
