The service menu for this TV may be accessed by holding down the INPUT button on the TV and pressing 2580 on the remote. To navigate the service menu use the arrow keys on the remote. The center Enter button is used to go down into a submenu. The Menu button returns from a submenu. The exit key exits the menu.

There is an option to adjust Over Scan in the Picture settings menu. Set the positions to zero and the size to +100 for both horizontal and vertical. Then set the Sharpness to zero in the Picture Mode menu for each picture mode (optional, but sharpness makes text and sharp lines really ugly if you're using a PC).

I've owned this TV since Feb. 2013 and I've been disgusted with its lack of disable-able overscan and forced to use VGA to get a usable picture. The VGA port finally started going out (flickering colors) and rather than tearing it apart to resolder the VGA connector I tried to find a service manual again. Found one for a different Apex LCD TV but the service code was the same. It's like having a brand new, much better TV now! Overscan is the worst thing the TV industry ever did, it's totally and completely unnecessary on digital, pixel-perfect signals.

May someone please send the service mode specifications for a Samsung LED 40 inch TV UA40EH5000R?

I don't have service mode specifications but I do have a Samsung and looked around for how to get it in service mode some time ago because the HDMI cables somehow disconnected themselves a lot. Thought it was an electronic problem but it turned out to be a parenting problem instead SO I have never used this information and can not vouch for it. I cut and paste it from a note I copied from a forum entry to use at your discretion:
First post:
To enter "Service Mode" Press the remote - control keys in this sequence :
From Standby Info-Menu-Mute-Power On
- The buttons are active in the service mode.
Remote - Control Key : Power, Arrow Up, Arrow Down, Arrow Left, Arrow Right, Menu, Enter, Number Key(0~9)
Careful though there are things you shouldn't touch in this menu.

Another post:
Method 1

Method 2
Turn the power off. On the remote, press Mute followed by 1, 8, 2, Power in sequence.
Method 3
With the TV in standby, press the {DISPLAY} {P.STD} {MUTE} {POWER} on the remote.
Method 4
With the TV in standby, press the {SLEEP} {P.STD} {MUTE} {POWER} on the remote.
Method 5
With the TV in standby, press the {DISPLAY} {MENU} {MUTE} {POWER} on the remote.
Method 6
With the TV in standby. On the remote, press Mute followed by 1, 1, 9, Enter in sequence.

Good luck. Just a basic suggestion you probably don't need: keep track of any changes made by writing them down so you can put it all back if you have to.

How do I get to the service menu ? Sanyo Model DP42410

Press the volume + and channel - buttons at the same time for about 5 seconds. It must make it into service mode. But, what are you intended to do after entering this mode? There will be a special screen display, that will not resemble to normal user menu. Any data value set here should be changed very carefully. Improper data setting to this mode, might even make TV iresponsive to any external signals, means, the TV has gone for ever. If you do not know anything about this mode, and adjustments, never enter into it. Let it do by any experienced service technician. For more procedure to get into service mode and to make adjustments, check this link, if you wish.http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/

Screen is off centered

Every tv has a secret service menu accessed through a secret sequence of buttons on your non-secret remote.

With the power off, press this button sequence:

mute
1
8
2
power on

You should now be seeing the secret service menu.

TOUCH NOTHING IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT IT DOES!!!!!!!!!
Before you touch ANYTHING write down what the initial setting was. I mean it mister.
I think hitting volume down selects an option, while hitting "menu" takes you out of that option and into the area you were just in. There are lots of things to do here.

Before you do anything, go to the video options (there ought to be four of them), under one of them (second one I think) is the option to turn VM or SVM on or off (a setting of "zero" is off). For God's sake turn this off. I think it says "VM level" or something. Anything that says "VM" needs to be set to zero.

Now, to center the picture, I think you'll want the very top menu at the start of the service menu. One is horizontal something and the other is vertical something. BTW, it helps to have a test pattern for overscan when doing this. Do you own a copy of Digital Video Essentials? You should. Again, write down settings before you change them, so if you screw up you can fix it. To save your settings, keep hitting menu until you're back to the first screen, and hit mute twice. Then turn your tv off and back on. After using the service menu, my tv is always put in "dynamic" picture mode. Never, ever, ever use this mode. It will make the picture way too bright and kill your tv before its time. Use DVE or another calibration DVD to get the settings right on your tv.

BTW, you can also correct overscan in the service menu, but I wouldn't push it lower than 5%.

Overscan is off a bit

Does's the set have a repair history? If it was previously serviced , the capacitor which is connected between the emitter and the collector of the horizontal output transistor transistor might have been changed with the wrong value, which would cause and overscan situation. The service menu for this set is even hard for technicians to use. It' my opinion if the service manual will not correct the horizontal width, the wrong capacitor was probably installed. Scrivitron (also these sets are known for the forementioned capacitor to short , flame or open.

Cannot make horizontal and vertical size and position adjustments

OK...I paid a whole $50 for an Apex AT2702 that had [undisclosed] vertical zoom, horizontal shift, vertical shift and width issues. Before I raised hell for the person who sold it to me, I decided to first exhaust all alternative solutions.

I found that in order to tweak these settings, you have to be in service mode and must have a service manual which I can email upon request.

BE SURE TO DOCUMENT YOUR CURRENT SETTINGS SINCE ANYTHING YOU CHANGE WILL AFFECT YOUR SET'S PERFORMANCE !!!

1-Reduce your tv volume to 0
2-press the MUTE button on your original tv remote [you'll see "Mute" in red on the screen]
3-AT THE SAME TIME, press MUTE on the same remote and MENU on the tv controls.
This set your tv into service mode [there will be a red "S" at the top-center of your screen.

You'll need the table in the service manual page 47 where there are V-SHIFT, H-SHIFT, V-ZOOM, E/W WIDE default values that will need to be changed. WATCH YOUR SCREEN as you change the values to ensure you don't over do it.

If you have news ticker and sports scores issues, you'll want to be tuned to CNN, FOX, ESPN or whatever to see how your changes are applied.
If you have tv guide problems then tune to that channel or press info and see what happens when you make the changes.

BE SURE TO DOCUMENT YOUR CURRENT SETTINGS SINCE ANYTHING YOU CHANGE WILL AFFECT YOUR SET'S PERFORMANCE.

This has worked for my set and you may attempt this solution on yours at your own risk.
I'm no longer pissed off that I got a bogus tv because it now works just fine and I can see everything!

Good Luck!
