I had a similar problem with my Asus transformer TF101b tablet. First I charged the tablet for three hours. Then while it was still connected to the power source I held down the power button for about 30 seconds. Once I let up on the power button it took about five seconds and the tablet powered on. It took about two minutes for it to boot up and finally get to the home screen.
There are applications running in the back ground such as FB, LinkedIn, My space...etc. There is a setting you can turn off how your phone uses apps. You are able to turn them on and off to keep from streaming update data.
Upon first use, you have to charge the battery overnight. Then for every recharge, you may have to keep it connected to the charger for at least 4 to 6 hours depending on your tablet, otherwise, your battery will go kaputt in a short period of time.
Try performing a power reset. There should a power reset button near the charging port. It looks like a tiny hole. While plugged into the charger, use a paperclip to push the button inside this hole for 3-5 seconds. If it turns on, please allow it to charge for 4-6 hours before using it. If you leave it on the charger for longer than the allocated time, you will go back to having the same problem as before. Support Troubleshooting Guide
