How to remove agiator part from washing machineh
Generally, at the top of the agitator, there is a plastic cap which will unscrew. This cap covers a large NUT which, when unscrewed, lets the agitator be removed.
However, be aware, the NUT is heavily torqued and a real B**** to remove, especially since the agitator needs to be securely held to prevent movement. Then, the agitator itself needs to be forcibly removed, and a special tool, which looks something like an oversized gear puller, is needed to pull the agitator UP and off the spindle. This spindle goes through a seal and a bearing, and has a pulley on the end which is turned by a belt which also goes around a pulley on the TRANSMISSION, which basically is responsible for 'shifting gears' between the agitate and spin cycles. Good Luck!
