ACTIVA 210 WON'T DO REVERSE STITCH

If your Activa 210 sewing machine is not performing the reverse stitch function, there could be a few possible reasons for this issue:
1. Incorrect stitch selection: Ensure that you have selected the correct stitch that includes a reverse stitch. Some stitches, particularly decorative or specialty stitches, may not have a reverse option. Check your machine's manual to identify the stitches that offer reverse functionality.
2. Mechanical issue: There could be a mechanical problem preventing the reverse stitch function. Check if there is any lint, debris, or thread buildup in the reverse stitch lever or mechanism. Clean the area carefully with a soft brush or use compressed air to remove any obstructions that may be hindering the reverse stitch mechanism.
3. Stitch length setting: Verify that the stitch length is not set to zero. If the stitch length is at its minimum, it may prevent the reverse stitch function from engaging. Increase the stitch length slightly and try again.
4. Incorrect machine operation: Ensure that you are following the correct procedure to engage the reverse stitch. Typically, you would need to press and hold down a lever or button while sewing to activate the reverse stitch. Refer to your machine's manual for the specific instructions on how to engage the reverse stitch.
If none of the above steps resolve the issue, it is recommended to contact a professional sewing machine technician or the manufacturer's customer support for further assistance. They will be able to provide specific guidance and help diagnose any potential mechanical issues with your Activa 210 sewing machine.

I'm sewing a curtain out of bed sheet everytime I try to use reverse it locks up and will not sew yet it seems to work fine if I'm sewing without using the reverse button

Hi,

Please double check that you've not selected any automated option while using the reverse stitching. If so, please unselect the automated option and test reverse stitching again.

Thank you.

My reverse doesn't work.

Try reposting a query supplying brand and model of the sewing machine.

I assume your machine actually had the capability of reverse stitching, all machine do not. A variety of conditions may be responsible and without knowing your machine, I can only guess. If you have selected an automatic lockstitch option, it won't go in reverse. If it has a reverse button and you don't hold such down for the first three to five stiches, it may not proceed. Where is reverse button

Depends on the make & model of your machine. Would be best to consult the owner's manual. Mechanical and computerized machines also vary. Mechanical machines usually have a stitch length lever that, when pushed all the way up, will reverse stitch, or there is a button usually marked with an R or an arrow. Computerized machines usually have a button marked by a U-shaped arrow.

Of course, if you have a vintage sewing machine, it may not even have a reverse stitch. Instead, to sew in reverse, one would have to sink the needle into the fabric, raise the presser foot and swivel the fabric 180 degrees, drop the presser foot and stitch.

To find a copy of the owner's manual, search the internet for:
Manufacturer + Model + the word "Manual"

Does it have a securing stitch function?

Depends on the make and model of your machine. Some newer machines do have a securing stitch. Before that option was built in to new machines, sewists would simply decrease the stitch length for a couple of stitches or else do a couple of reverse stitches at the beginning or ending.

I have used consew bls-600 industrial sewing I purchased recently. The stitch length 0-4 dial was not working and was very tight. I tried to open it. Now the reverse handle is also not working and t

Shorten your stitch in reverse the machine can't do a stitch that long in reverse. Also google your make and model machine and the word Manual so you can properly learn to use the machine safely.

My bernina patchwork 140 will not sew in reverse when I press the reverse button has the button gone bad the button hole won't sew ithe back stitch either?

Some machines will not do any of their automatic forwards and backwards movement type stitches in reverse, are you trying to reverse in straight stitch or a more complex stitch.

The Activa is a late model quality machine, do you have a Bernina dealer locally you could ring up and ask or take it to?

What is the best way to handle the reverse option on the babylock quest I have read in several blogs that this function causes problems..?

If you have the automatic tie off stitch turned on, just tap the reverse button once and it will do the end tie off stitch. Or just hold it down to go in reverse.

Let me know if you have any more questions,

How do I reverse stitch on a singer 362 fashion mate model

The large knob in the center of the stitch length dial is a button, push it in to reverse stitch. Hold in as long as you need to reverse stitch, then release to resume regular stitching.

Machine sews only in reverse

Be sure you are in the correct stitch pattern...if you are on a buttonhole stitch or a stretch stitch it normal for the machine to sew backwards. Be sure your length is to the right of 0 and not in a strtch stitch model or buttonhole mode.
