LN-R268W picture is gone but the red dot is still on.

We just moved into our new house and plugged up the tv in our bedroom. It worked fine for about a week until we unplugged and replugged it into the wall..and bam! No more picture and no sound.

The only thing that works is the little red dot by the power button. Suggestions?

Do I need a digital converter for my Samsung LN-R268W TV?

If you are refering to signal you receceive on an antenna, then yes. It's actually called a Digital Tuner. The standard analog tuners that are in most older TV's will work for the Analog signals that you will probibally still be receiving, the Digital signals will not be available to you. This will depend on if stations in your area are at transmitting in Digital or analog or both. These boxes are the devices the government was either giving away, or making availalbe for a low cost to those whom need it via cupons. This has ended, but you can check this gov site out that talks in detail about it. You can buy the Digital Tuner boxes for pretty cheap from what I havce seen, but you will probibally need an antenna also.

Toshiba 42HP86 screen gone black

I have the same problem and when I phoned the local authorized Toshiba Dealer. They said it could be the main circuit board or the board that drives that board. Estimated cost of boards $200.00 to $500.00 !! If its the plasma itself then it is not even worth repairing, cheaper to buy a new tv... Great eh? NOT !

Screen goes completely out.

when it blanks out, tuen the lights out in the room, and shine a flash light at the screen, see if you can see the picture, if you can, it is the inverter moard blamking out, thats the board that lights the back lights, if you cant, hit the input button on the remote, if the TV comes back with a picture, it is a problem with the main board, in paticular the componant input on the main board
