The most common problem is your lock cylinder.
The lockcylinder is equipped with spring loaded contact to touch the chip on the key. After years of use the spring collapse.
Disconnect the battery,remove airbag,remove steering wheel, remove column cover,disconnect orange wire under the dash,turn ignition switch to running position and push the locking pin with small pick . Pull the old cylinder out (tight fishing cord to the end of the orange wire before you pul and use the cord to pul the new one back)
Buy AC Delco plain cylinder and rekey to your old key.you're saving money from reprogramming the new key
Install in revers order
