Hello My 60PK550 TV started to turn itself of every 5-10 minutes?

Hello My 60PK550 TV started to turn itself of every 5-10 minutes, I switched it of at the power point and waited, now when it is plugged in and turned on at the power point it immediately tries to turn itself on then off continually ( I can hear the releys energising and de-energising) the screen remains dark, could you tell me which component requires replacing, or how do diagnose which part? I am a licensed electrician and technician.

SOURCE: 42 inch LG Plasma TV - Lost picture

Our LG 50" plasma tv screen went black after a popping noise but still had sound, after great diliberations decided to take the back off and have a peek!
We unplugged the tv and tested the fuses (there were three we could see) one had blown, the one on the left as you look at the back of the tv it also has one above it. We wrote the code/seriel number down and took the fuse to the electrical wholesalers Maplin and bought a pack of 10 fuses for £1.29 replaced the fuse in the tv and everything now fine!!!!!!
Hope this might be of use to anyone whose lost the picture after a loud popping/snacking noise but still has sound.

If the red light flashes at plug in you likely have a main board that is bad. If you have to press the power button before the red light flashes you likely have a bad bad supply board. This will need to be diagnosed by a technician to be sure of the problem.

SOURCE: tv turns off after 15 minutes of use

For bobby11 and luis, it is the power supply. Part Number EAY34797001 in the 42" and EAY34796801 in the 32". This is a known problem, and somebody should start a Class Action against LG over this one. Part is available online and easy to swap out for anyone with the most basic knowledge.

There is probably a bad capacitor on the power board, I had the same thing happen to my 42LB1DR after 2 years. T.V. would turn on and white power light would blink, no pictue and no sound. If your'e a diy'er, it is not that hard of a fix. Take all the covers off of the back of the tv(UNPLUGGED!!!), then look at all the capacitors on the power board. lcd_repair_4_bad_capacitors_lg.jpg
These are the capacitors, look to see if any of them appear to have a bump on the top of them. They are supposed to be flat, you can also tell if one of them has gone bad if there is an oily substance on the metal cover that was removed. If one of them is in question, carefully remove the board, and take it to an electronics store to have them sotter ?sp on a new capacitor. It ended up costing me around $40.00 to have this done. Good luck and if you are not comfortable trying this, than take it to a repair shop, but I was quoted around $450 to take the T.V. in. No Thanks

This is almost certainly the device that sends electricity to the the plasma in the panel after failing. Bring to your local repair shop and expect to pay 300-400 parts and 100-200 labour.

check first the psu unplugging the Y-sus from it if the voltages stay on then you have a Y-sus failure if the psu keeps closing then its most likely the psu itself or your main board

When pressing the remote's 'on' button tv won't come on

does it power on using the power switch on the tv itself instead of the remote? if same thing happens when pressing the power on switch on the tv directly, try to test it on another power outlet. if it is connected through a surge protector or avr, see if connecting it directly through the outlet works.

try to also check if the power on switch of the tv is somehow stuck which may cause it to try to cycle on and off and same thing on the remotes on/off button.

now if this is specific to the use of a remote, replacing the battery might help.

Hello mrdavidmetca,

Welcome, and thank you for using FixYa!

I would start by pulling the batteries from the remote control. Manually turn the TV off and then back on, manually. If the issue resolves, replace the remote.
If the issue continues; you will need to find a local TV Repair Shop and have the Tuner Board replaced.

I have the LG 60PK550 model tv and i have a lot of buzzing noise coming from the set and wondered if this is common in plasma tv's of this size due to the amount of power they consume ?

No,the power supply board have problems. Those power supply transformers on the power supply board, causing this, high voltage flow going through those transformers.Tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a refurbish power supply board for the replacement.
