Why does my Dyson DC17 pushes ******* carpet?

Make sure brush is spinning properly and that all wheels on base plate are there and spin freely. Make sure bottom of baseplate is clean. If these are all ok you may need a model that offers height adjustment for your style of carpet.

Have you correctly replaced the glider that covers the brush? You need to make sure that the clips are fully seated .

If the cleaner seems more difficult than usual to push, it's a good idea to check the soleplate for damage, and to remove any threads, hair and other obstructions from the brushbar. You may also want to contact your carpet manufacturer to check it's suitable for cleaning with a vacuum cleaner equipped with a revolving brushbar. Manufacturers sometimes recommend cleaning certain types of carpeting using suction only.

Pull filter out try vacuum,if it works good clean filter or replace it.

Hi there, check that your brush bar is going round if you are having this problem on carpet. When the machine is stood upright, ensure the brush control dial is in the centre position when upright and then moves forward when you release the head.

Check the brush. That could be the problem. Check the belt also. Your brush roller may need to be lubed or even replaced.

This happens when the bristles in the brush roll get worn down too short. Put in a new brush roll and the machine will pull itself over the carpet, so you hardly have to push at all.

I know this sounds silly, but it works. Turn it over and wipe all the black residue off the bottom of it (off the plastic on the bottom that rubs on the carpet as you push and pull it). I thought my husband was out of his mind when he told me that was the solution, but it really works.
