I have the same problem posted here several times, my Viewsonic hdtv flat screen has no picture and the little green light flashes red. Your experts have advised to get a new main board... but where?? The Viewsonic site has none available--but lists the price at around $275 or $300... I could buy a brand new flatscreen for that. Can I get the mainboard cheaper and WHERE do I look???
THANKS

the problem is not the mian board but the DC to DC inverters that drive the lamps behind the panels some manufactures make them available seperate from the panel but most are a part of the panel. so the whole panel may have to be replaced.

Got it. I was the 'guest' who posted that I had the same problem. Not the CTRL board as I earlier thought. It boils down to the Y-SUS board (right hand side as you face the back of the display) In the upper-upper left hand quadrant you'll find a small capacitor labelled "C70".
This is the naughty one.
You can verify this by removing the back of the display, powering up and then with a small extended flame lighter, GENTLY warming C70. All it takes is about 2 to 3 seconds and the display will steady up just like always.
C70 is a surface mount capacitor, most likely 33uf at 25 volts. Haven't confirmed this yet. Will post again when I've affected the repair on my VPW505.................
BTW: This is not something you want to attempt unless you have experience with electronics. No.....really!

Might have a bad tuner, try using one of the a/v inputs and an external signal device such as a vcr. Julio [email protected]
