The dryer must be connected to a 240 volt 3-prong outlet. If the voltage is not sufficient, you may have a problem with the electric supplier. What kind of problem are you having that leads you to believe the voltage is not sufficient?

SOURCE: My Roper Electric Dryer will not heat

i am sending you all the possibilities for your problem, check either of these causes ----and than let me know if it is solved----

Power from the house
Check to see whether there's power getting to the dryer. Is it plugged in? Check for blown fuses or tripped circuit breakers--your dryer uses two fuses or circuit breakers. The dryer could tumble but not heat if only one of the two fuses is blown. If you have circuit breakers, one of the two circuit breakers can trip, even if the two for the dryer are connected.

Heating element
Often a dryer heating element burns out, but doesn't trip the circuit breaker or blow a fuse. The heating element is simply a long coil of special wire. You can check it for continuity with an ohm meter. No continuity means the element is bad and you need to replace it--electric heating elements aren't repairable.

Thermal fuse
On many dryers, there's a thermal fuse mounted to the exhaust duct inside the back cover panel. The fuse--which is about an inch long--is usually embedded in black resin and mounted in a white plastic housing. If the fuse has blown, you need to replace it. (You can't re-set it.)

Wiring
A common problem is for the main wiring connection from the house, at the dryer, to burn and break its connection. Because the dryer can still tumble with partial power, the connection may be only partially defective. You may need to replace both the power cord to the dryer and the terminal block inside the dryer that the wire is attached to.

Have Roper RES7646KQ0 Electric dryer and the lkight comes on , it makes a humming noise when you turn the dial, but does nothing when you hit the start button. help!

What has occurred, before your problem, voltage problem, lightning strike, possible heating problem ?
Check your breaker, turn off then on to make sure there is complete circuit. If not that, bad timer possible or open thermal fuse. Would be my thought.

Check your electrical breakers
Be sure to check your voltage coming to the dryer at the plug and the machine back where the wires connect to the terminals you should have 220Volts.
I think this may be your problem with no heat.

We have brought home two new roper dryers now because neither one of them heats up. we hooked up a brand new 3 prong plug to the new dryers and plugged them into the existing 220 outlet that our old dryer...

You need to double check that your wiring it up correctly at the junction block on the machine. if thats correct. Most likley is that you actually only have 110 volts going to the machine it will run fine but will not HEAT. check voltage at plug or where its wired into back of unit you should have 110 volts on two out of three with the third being ground if you dont you have a bad outlet or breaker in elec.panel

check voltage going to the heater,if no voltage check the contactor if energize,if not energize,close the power and check the thermostat with multimeter and test the continuity if the contact will close or open.

No heat

Your dryer needs 208 - 220 volts for electric heat. If you have determined (in some way) that you have sufficient voltage coming to the dryer, then your issue may be a defective heat element, thermostat, timer, etc. Contact an appliance service company.

My dryer all of a sudden will not come on. Is there a reset button on these dryers?

Your problem could be a result of several possible issues:

* voltage coming to the dryer (110 V for gas & 220 V for electric); Check circuit breaker, voltage at wall outlet, etc.
* thermal fuse (non-resettable) that has blown and shuts off the dryer typically due to overheating (may be caused by clogged exhaust system)
* timer
* motor
* Start button or door switch

You should contact an appliance service company if you have checked the circuit breaker for proper voltage.

Roper dryer - no heat

You may have a bad fuse or t-stat but and I am not trying to be funny have you checked the circuit breakers? It takes two to make an electric dryer operate one makes it run the other makes it heat.

Electric Dryer No-Start/No-Heat

Try check your timer, and see if you have voltage going to motor. Also check to see if you belt is installed. If broken there is a switch to the belt also. Try check you Door Lid Switch.
