SOURCE: LG Washer LE Error
I replaced my hall effect sensor about two weeks ago and just hooked the machine back up a few dags ago. My wife ran about 5 loads through it and it shut down with the LE code again!!! I ordered the part from MCM Electronics and they are sending me a replacement part for free since the first one lasted only a day. Hopefully this is the last time I have to replace this part. It would be great if someone knew how to bench test one of those sensors so I could know for sure if my first one is really defective. I always have a hard time believing when a new part fails so soon.

LE codes are extensively covered in past Fix-Ya solutions, but are generally caused by only a handful of things. 1. the " Load Error " can be a very off balanced load. 2. excessive use of soap leads to too much suds, and thus drag on the inner tub. (use 1 tablespoon of HE soap max. per load) or 3. the Hall sensor (part number 6501KW2001A) has failed. The hall sensor is rather easy to replace, and is covered by a seven year part warranty. Take the back cover off. Take the big nut off and remove the motor rotor. Remove the bolts holding the motor windings. Remove the electric plug on the sensor and unclip it from the motor winding. Snap new sensor on and reassemble. Usually takes under a half hour. On a difficulty scale of 1 - 10, it might rate a 4. This should be a Fix-Ya for your machine, and at basically no cost!

This is a motor fault code. Sometimes it can be just a communication error, in which case you can try unplugging the machine for 20 minutes and see if it clears the problem up. More likely it is a fault in the motor itself. The most likely culprit would be a defective hall sensor. I will attach a photo of the sensor for you to see what it looks like. To access and replace the hall sensor, you have to remove the rotor and stator at the motor. Before going to this trouble, try the unplugging thing first and also check the connector on the main control board. It is the red connector next to the heat sink. Using a multimeter, check that the board is receiving a signal from the sensor. Hope this helps and best wishes.

Hi
Thanks
for using FixYa. You are right, the 'LE' error message indicates the control
board has detected that the motor is either not turning, or has locked up for
some reason. Monitoring the motor is the job of the Hall Effect sensor board
which constantly determines the direction and speed of the motor and feeds that
information back to the control board. If there is a problem between what the
motor should be doing and what the hall effect sensor says the motor is doing,
the 'LE' will be displayed and the cycle will be stopped. The hall sensor is
rather easy to replace, and is covered by a seven year part warranty (in US).
Take the back cover off. Take the big nut off and remove the motor rotor.
Remove the bolts holding the motor windings. Remove the electric plug on the
sensor and unclip it from the motor winding. Snap new sensor on and
reassemble. Usually takes under a half hour. Please do rate the solution
if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.
Thanks
