SOURCE: tv powers on and goes off after about 3 seconds

This set has a problem in the horizontal sweep circuit or in the main power supply. Most likely a failed component, and the set shut down to protect the rest of the circuit. If you know how to read a schematic diagram and how the circuits operate, then you will need a good multimeter and an ESR type capacitor checker to find out the short in this set. Sometimes the CRTs(Picture Tubes) will leak the coolent fluid out and onto the printed circuit boards. Also sometimes the convergence IC's can cause this problem, but if that is the case the small little pico fuses will pop also. If you have had no solid state or printed circuit repair experience, play it safe and call in a trained tech. Good Luck

SOURCE: MITSUBISHI WT-A42 ERROR CODE 22 "SHORT PROTECT CIRCUIT"

error code 22 is a short protect circuit. this means the tv has found a problem in the tv and will not let it turn on till fixed. this could be several different circuits in the tv that is causing this. we need to test some parts to see what this is. the most common is a shorted convergence circuit. a repair on this would range around 400.00. You should check using a multimeter and also you should be good at soldering

PS:I strongly advice if you don't have experience in electronics then better leave this job to a tech

SOURCE: Mitsubishi WS-65809 - works, but screen won't power on.

yes that is correct 12 is normal...make sure all connectors are plugged in and in the correct places . conectors should be marked with letters that match the marking on the circuit board. Then look for heaters , in the glass bottom of the picture tubes(CRTs) there should be a little orange glow visable though the neck of the CRTs just above where the crt boards plugg onto the bottom. if the heaters are not glowing then check your wires to the crt boards again , you probly tugged one of them too hard during disassembly also check for cracked solder in the heater circuit......Oh yeah, you didn't mention -Does the TV get high voltage ??? thats important to having a picture......If you see the heaters glowing when the tv is on then look down into the lenses of the crts . If you see a brite color horizontal line closer to one side in each of them then you know most of the tv is working. If that line is curved then the tv probly detects that the convergence circuit is not working and it is blanking video.
OR -----
the error is 21 (see what number it ends the sequence with..) . Error 21 is X_Ray protect and you probly plugged one of the connectors into the diagnosic connector(near the high voltage transformer- normally nothing goes there) . If that is the case then somthing in the H.V. circuit could have been permanently damaged and now the tv has a new problem and wont work even if you put that connector in the right place.

SOURCE: Mitsubishi ws-65809 powers on for 2 seconds.

2,2 error code is short protection---98% of the time it means one of the two soldered in pico fuses this set uses is blown----there are several---but your problem means if it is ws-65809 one of the two stk-392-570 convergence chips has failed.

I will attach a photo---they are on the middle circuit board and the two to the right are for convergence--both are green and 5 amp--with the set unplugged check both of them like any fuse--no reading means bad.

If you find this--I HAVE START TO FINISH, STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS FOR THIS REPAIR IN THIS SET--SHOPS WILL GET 300 or more but you if you can do it yourself buy everything you need for under 40 dollars--I can tell you the best place to get the chips, fuses, etc.

If you want the instructions let me know and I will post them here for you---they are based on my own actual experience doing this repair in this kind of set hundreds of times.

If this information helped you rate this solution as I do this here for free.

I have a mitsubishi ws-65809. I relpaced the STK392-570 ICs and turned on the tv and it powered on for 2 secs and went off. I ran the test and got a 2 and 2 blink. Then ran test and got a 1 and 2 blin

If you unplugged the set you will get the 1,2 no error found, the 2,2 is short protection, I hope you had that before the chips were replaced, it is one or both of the pico fuses bad that protect those chips.

see photo of board, locations are 9FAo4 and o5 on the middle board where the chips are but further back.
12_15_2012_1_52_39_pm.jpg they are both five amp pico fuses.

My Mitsubishi WS-65809 turns on and then off after 4 seconds. I have pressed the input/enter together and got 2 and then 4 blinks. What do I need to do to fix it?

First to be sure, unplug the set from power and then plug back--this clears the error buffer. Repeat the self check:

PRESS AND HOLD "device"(input) and "menu" buttons on front of tv for at least 5 seconds and then release both together.

Watch for power light to blink in a sequence:

1 blink-then 2 blinks-------no error

2 blink-then 1 blink-------X-ray protection

2 blink-then 2 blink-------SHORT PROTECTION*******

2 blink-then 3 blink---------deflection circuit problem

2 blink-then 4 blink---------vertical circuit problem

******2, then 2 is most common---usually means one of the fuses that protect the Convergence IC or IC's is blown---set will detect no voltage to convergence IC and shut down.

SET WILL REPEAT BLINK ERROR CODE UP TO 5 TIMES AND THEN TO GET IT TO REPEAT MORE YOU HAVE TO UNPLUG SET AND TRY TO TURN ON AGAIN.

As you can see 2,4 is vertical problem----might want to remove speaker grill, inspection plate behind it and look up front--vertical is on middle board at right front as seen from front of set.

Look for ANY tiny drops of clear liquid which damages parts and is toxic-----glycol is what I would look for first.

My 65 in mitsubishi medallion hdtv 1080 wont turn

Mitsubishi self check: MOST OF THESE SETS HAVE A SELF DIAGNOSTIC:

UNPLUG TV AND THEN PLUG BACK IN---TURN ON---GREEN POWER LIGHT COMES ONFOR A MOMENT AND GOES OFF.

Watch for power light to blink in a sequence:

My Tv turns on then off. I have held down the

2, then 2 is short protection. 95% of the time in this set it means one or both of the soldered in fuses that protect the convergence circuit are blown. Set detects no voltage and shuts down instantly.

WS-65809 uses two of the STK-392-570 CONVERGENCE IC chips. They and the fuses are located on the middle circuit board inside this set.

I HAVE START TO FINISH STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS FOR THIS REPAIR ON THIS SET THAT TELL YOU EVERYTHING YOU WILL NEED AND HOW TO DO THE REPAIR.

Considering parts cost is under 30 dollars total if you or someone you know can do it you can save a lot of money--most shops get 300 or more for this repair--it takes about one hour and can be done in the home--I have done hundreds of them here.

If you want the instructions and where to look for the fuses let me know---the fuses should be checked first and if either of the two are bad--you have to replace them and BOTH convergence chips.

If this has helped you rate this solution as I do this here for FREE.

Mits ws-65809 Won't turn on Blinking 2 2

2-2 is a error code that means short protection.

Usually in this set it means one of the fuses that protects the convergence circuit is shorted because of a bad convergence Ic.

I HAVE PHOTOS OF THE FUSES-- and THE PROTECTION RESISTORS- and I also have step by step from start to finish instructions for this repair in this set.

If you want the instructions and photos give me a vote here and I will be happy to email them to you and answer any questions you have. I have done hundreds of Mitsubishi sets with this problem---I just got home from doing one a few miles away from where I live.
