At couple years old you should look for new upgraded maps for your device. Go to TomTom web site and search for maps. http://www.tomtom.com/products/maps/
For little more than the cost of new map, you might want to buy a new GPS (with newer maps and more features) as costs have gone down.
download tomtom home from www.tomtom.com install your cradle after the download then your tomtom and with a bit of luck, the update section will automatically select the updates you need. good luck
TomTom say that you will need to return the unit to them to unlock it, but there is an independant prog download available that costs £40. How good that is I don't know, so I suggest you mail TomTom Service dept to see what they say. I reckon it is the cheapest alternative.
I did find out how to solve the problem. I can't remember exactly where I found the solution but I think it was on TOMTOM website. You have to connect to TOMTOM home and reinstall the application. I put the TOMTOM disc in the computer (which came with purchase) and reinstalled the program. Which I thought was weird as everything appeard to be fine with TOMTOM home). Anyway, it worked. Good luck.
