Please do not use the washing machine again, as you are risking the possibility of a fire at your place. The fuses & circuit breakers are there to prevent fire. It seems you have a dead short in your washer.
Someone will need to repair the washer before you attempt to use it again, this needs to be a certified repair shop. You may have had nothing to do with the problem, for example, it could have been a lightning strike in a storm.

It is possible that the electrically operated water inlet valve has failed closed. This is a common occurrence with washers. If unsure about replacing it, call a service tech

The storm you referred, you didn't mention if it was torrential rain, or a lightning storm, either way, there could have been a build-up of static electricity on the telephone line and if your P.C. was connected to the internet and to the mains at that time, it maybe the build-up of static earthed itself through your P.C.. If that is the case, then you are lucky it did not kill your machine. My advice is to get an engineer to look at it BUT! don't tell him about the storm unless he asks.

I was wondering did u ever figure this out i have same code ...but mine will run a little water then drain and never spins but got the code E5E too

That very common when systems are connected directly to a router/modem after lightning storm. your best bet is buy a usb wireless adapter.

If you pull out your washer and take of the back panel you should be able to see the motor. Check the belt and see if its still attached. Since these washers spin at high speeds its a common occurrence for the motors to burn out.

During a lightning storm, a lightning strike could have induced a high voltage surge in your incoming power lines. Left unprotected from these power surges, the weakest link ( normally low voltage electronic controls) are the most susceptable. Just because you had power available at the wall receptacle after a storm doesn't mean that your washer control system wasn't exposed to one of these surges and got damaged. On the contrary, it is extremely likely that the washer took a 'hit' and was damaged.Other devices plugged into the same receptacle may have survived that hit because electricity travels the path of least resistance.. In this case.. that path may have been thru your washer.. My point being is that your washer could have sustained a power surge and was damaged so don't rule that out. Of course, that surge could have taken an internal fuse or other component out too..

If you have had a lightning storm or power surge it may have fried the electronics panel. That is what happened to mine. Once it is fixed you should put a surge suppressor on it that is rated for major appliances.
