Root is just the dvd menu, when you put a dvd in the player it will show Root when the dvd disk menu come on, its not a fault just informs you that its working,

Also...If your BluRay player only has a optical output for audio you will need to swap the inputs on the JVC rx-5020v. Press the "settings" button repeatedly until "digital in" appears on the display. Now use the "adjust" up and down buttons until DVD is selected as option 2. It will look like something like:
1CD2DVD
Note: this may bugger any other previous setup you have.
Yes, I have the same problem with a Dell Inspiron 700m laptop. I have never been able to show videos using two seemingly compatible devices. This is not a projector issue however, as my projector displays video DVD fine from this PC, only videos inserted into PowerPoint will not play. Using another computer it works fine. Imagine that, Dell selling two highly practical devices that are not compatible.
i believe that the problem is in the movie itself
it has a password somewhere on the case
try playing it on antoher dvd , c if it does it agian
