Our KitchenAid just started leaking. it is coming from the front ice dispenser on door. seems many people are having this problem. there is also "snow" on ice maker and bucket. and the temperature keeps changing dramatically. i set it to 0 but when i check later, its sometimes -15 or +11. please help. i know nothing about how to fix.

Your water inlet valve on the back where the water supply comes in is probably leaking. disconnect the water line coming out of it and see if you have a slow drip. Try the dispenser to see if it's just drips after use.

The excess frost on the ice maker and bucket can be caused by the ice chute door not closing all the way or a leaky door gasket letting air in.

The water for the dispenser comes from the water inlet valve on the back. When you depress the dispenser switch the valve open letting water in. When you release the switch it closes the valve but the valve can be worn out or have sediment in it letting it leak like a leaky faucet in your kitchen.

Ice maker works fine but ice will not vend out of the storage bin. Ice freezes in the vending area

Check the door flap where the ice comes out into the dispenser. The number one cause of the ice build up in the dispenser chute is caused from warm air leaking into the freezer and clashing with the freezer air.

Ice maker makes ice but freezes before it can be dispensed so the dispenser is always clogged with frozen ice. Cleaned out the ice maker and started over but same results. The temp is set at 38 for the...

Hi, The freezer should be "0", the possible clogging you have could be a leaking water valve or an over filling ice maker. I would have the ice maker checked for volume of water dispenser during harvest, should be 5.5 oz. (2/3 cup), if more the 6 oz. the ice maker is bad. If fails to stop filling or leaks/drips, replace the water valve behind the unit.
I hope this helps.

I have a drip coming from my kitchenaid ice maker which flows into the water/ ice dispenser tray then down the front of the door. The refrigerator was purchased in 2005 and the problem started last...

It's either the ice tray leaking , In witch case you should replace it , Or the water inlet valve is is sticking open and overfilling the tray, in this case you will need to replace the valve behind the refrigerator where the hose connects. Good luck

I have a side by side Whirlpool fridge and the ice maker is not working. If I have it turned on (lever down) and door is closed and water leaks out the front of the ice dispenser and it doesn't seem to...

How old is the fridge? Mine lieterally caught on fire at the start device last weekend. My fridge was manufactured in July 2001. Be careful, The fridge I have is model# ED5FHGXKQ00. I am currently requesting a recall be made by Whirlpool on this appliance.
Other than that it could just be that the ice maker line has frozen or the "arm" in the ice chest is stuck and can't raise itself to pump water directly into the ice trays. Either way be very careful. I hope this was helpful.

Water dispenser works, ice maker makes ice but doe not dispense

Remove the ice bucket/container from inside the freezer compartment. Examine underneath at the front of the container to see if ice cubes are lodged between the metal blades. If cubes are caught in this area, they will prevent ice from dropping into the glass/cup.

IWater does not dispense.

Good day,
The hum is normal. That's the water valve in the rear of the machine being activated.
Lots of plumbing to be checked.
Water line starts at the dispensing outlet in the door, and runs thru the door to the bottom of the hinged side.
From there it goes to the filter,
'From there it travels under the machine into the cooling reservoir mounted back of the fresh food section behind the crispers.
From there it travels back out and runs to the water solenoid mounted on the back rear of the machine.
One of these lines or their fittings has failed.
It's a look-see repair.

Also, there is a remote chance the water line running inside the freezer door froze, causing this problem, and would require the machine be shut down (unplugged) and the door be allowed to defrost completely.

I would check the water connection under the toe plate....follow the water line that comes out of the freezer door.. check if that is where your leak is coming from..
