Are you saying the supplied software does not install in Windows 8? Being as the camera uses SD memory card, SDHC memory card, SDXC memory card, then Windows 8 will be able to read those cards. As for which cameras are compatible with Windows 8, they all should be.
The dark spots is seen in your camera because inside the camera (LENS) some dust/particles may stick. You can check it out by removing the camera and clean all the lens and the housing (cover) which is seen straight to the camera(lens). If not solve the last thing is to change the CAMERA (lens).Good luck
Yes the camera sure is compatible with the Mac. I can only refer you to your manual as I'm afraid I've had NO experience with the Mac. I haven't even seen one for about 8 years. We are all Windows dummies around here sorry.
This model has iLink: IEEE 1394 firewire port. If you don't have a firewire card, you can probably find one pretty cheap on the internet (try ebay).
Windows has movie maker, which when the camera is connected, will allow you to capture the video from the camera on the comptuer, although there is no DVD burner software at least on the XP version (not sure about Vista). I use Nero for the whole process: capture, edit, burn to DVD.
Check with JVC and your manual to ensure that this camera can be used as a still camera when connected to the PC. I think even some high end cameras do not have this functionality. You don't say which version of Windows you are running.
I would check with JVC's web site or on your driver disc to see that there are WDM / TWAIN drivers to allow your GZ-MG130 to be seen as an imaging device in Windows.
