What is wrong and how do I fix my kenmore 600 series washer?

The washer had been working fine. Started a load and left it. Came back later to find it still full of water. Attempted to start a drain or spin cycle or anything - nothing happens. I spin the dial to various points, pull out the knob and nothing happens. Checked the plug and the fuse box - all good. What can I do?

If this is a top load washer; then the "LID Switch" is broken. Go to www.sears.com/parts, enter your model number and you'll see the switch listed.

Warning! To avoid personal injury or even death, always disconnect your appliance from its power source--that is, unplug it or break the connection at the circuit breaker or fuse box--before you do any troubleshooting or repair work on your appliance. Also, because some components may have sharp edges, use caution while working on your appliance.

Some problems that can occur with your top-loading washing machine are:

There's an error code on the digital display

It doesn't work at all
It won't drain
It doesn't spin
It doesn't agitate
It's noisy
It leaks
It's off balance
There's no hot water
There's no cold water
It's slow to fill
There's no water at all
The clothes are wet after spinning
The cycle doesn't advance
There's no delicate or regular spin or agitate
It's overfilling
It's underfilling
The water temperature is incorrect

Hope this may help;

SOURCE: The washer will fill up with water but won't complete the cycle or drain. This has happened before, and I would spin the knob a few times and switch the load size selection. It always randomly started

it sounds like a bad timer there....! if after you selected a different load it drained......!

if it didnt drain at all on any mode I would say a bad lid swtich.

Kenmore 600 series washer

Sounds like this could be a blocked/air-locked filter.

easy fix if so.

First. switch off the Machine at the socket.
Check your washing machine user manual for the location of the pump filter access screw. (Normally situated behind a front bottom clip out panel) ensure you have a few towels and a couple of pans/dishes at the ready before releasing the access screw, expect two or three litres of water to drain... as well as whatever is blocking the filter. (could just be an air blockage or a small object) replace the filter screw and clip off panel, switch on at mains.

Hope this helps.

KENMORE 80 SERIES

Open and close lid, listen for 'clicking' sound. If no 'clicking' sound, replace lid switch. If this washer has a hidden lid switch, check the lid hinge screws and make sure they are screwed in tight.

Machine won't work. kenmore 90 series

Might be a broken motor or a blown fuse. I would suggest having your machine looked at by a specialist. If it's old, you might consider replacing it.
