I do the general setup cleaning by pressing 7 then 6 then 3, after that my brother mfc-215c has a message of unable to print
I have the same problem my printer (a MFC-215C) is unable to clean and when I press Menu/set I do not have "Black print"? So what do I do now?????? HELP... Thanks Nathalie

Press the Menu/Set, Black Start, Menu/Set, and Black Start keys in this order.TIP: For the FAX models equipped with numerical keypads, you may press the Menu/Set, Black Start, and 0 keys instead in the same way as conventional models.Then "MAINTENANCE 10" appears on the LCD. Press 82 using the numerical keys/arrows.
Then press the Menu/Set key.
Error code will display indicating source of error if it is 41 thats print head error, not worth a cracker, replace machine.
press stop to exit if needed.

The ink blotter in the bottom of the machine is full, this is a built-in redundancy. Machine needs to be completely stripped to replace this.
Buy another brand next time.

My printer said "unable to clean" I unplugged it and plugged back in. Now it says "maintenace 7". Tried "menu/set, *, 2,8,6,4 that didn't work. Tried "menu/set, black start" that didn't work either. Please help!!

I have a similar problem with my Brother MFC 410CN which now displays the message 'unable to clean' & will no longer print, scan or copy. I followed the instructions posted on this site for getting the error code which displays as WSW00. Does anyone have any idea what this may refer to as this printer hasn't had much use & I would rather not dump it if it's on something trivial.
