After a battery change, most of the universal remote control will get reset by itself. You have to reconfigure it with your TV once again, using the set-up codes. 1) replace batteries by new ones, clean contact from oxide, and see if the wires is open or brokern and repair
2) chek if the codes is o.k
3) was working before? 4) did rmote control was slip to the floor? 5) go to esupport.sony.com and download the code for Free and test the remote again.
