Although i have downloaded itunes 8.2, which my new iPhone requires to download music or apps, when i connect my iPhone to my laptop my iPhone beeps coz its now charging and then my laptop shuts down and restarts. I get a flash of a blue screen with white writing just after it shuts down and just before it restarts. If i leave my iPhone connected my laptop will restart again and i'll get a message, on a black screen with white writing, telling me that there are two reasons why laptop restarted - one is that there was a power surge and two that my laptop was protecting itself from dangerous software or hardware. I've had my iPhone checked out and its perfectly ok. How can i stop my laptop from shutting down and restarting and to be able to use itunes and iPhone together????
Does your computer have a webcam? if it does, the computer is restarting itself because it identifies two conflicting cameras - one from your computer, the other from your iphone. what you can do is either 1)update your camera drive, 2)update your computer drive or 3)use a computer that does not have a webcam connected to it. hope this helped!
also, if you're using windows vista, this link will help you: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2280?viewlocale=en_US
You need to get a new cable. I'm very impressed on the description you put into your message. It really helped. If the new cord doesn't work try using a different jack
Make sure your iphone is fully charged. also try connecting to different usb port. go to device manager and uninstall the usb drivers and restart the computer. If the problem still persist, uninstall and reinstall appplication for the ipod
