Cdp-cx355 cd changer and door broken

I got a free one of these from my work...well that is because it was having the same problem and they didn't want to mess with it haha. Sooo...I brought it home..thinking i could just buy a cd cleaner kit and clean the dirty lens..which is what normally causes these problems. To my dismay this didn't work (later found that the lens is a good half inch away from the disc)..so i decided to open the bad boy up (hey I got it for free...no harm crackin it open :-) ) After hitting the lens with a can of air..I tried again...no go. And just so you all know...this player runs vertically..not horizontally. I want to know how does the player read? the lens in stationary. All other players i have seen the lens moves up and down. I'm thinking it might have something to do with that. I gave up on cleaning it and started doing some searches..this was the only forum that was somewhat helpful. I agree with Silverscreen. When i watch the cd's playing the disc wobbles SLIGHTLY up and down. I think the rear stand-alone wheel is a bit too loose. ..The amount it wobbles is hardly noticed but is the only thing i see out of the ordinary.

Regarding test and checking of audio out circuit, service manual will help you a lot and let me know do you get distorted sound in digital out or analog out.
If its analog audio out, then IC401, 402 and IC302 on main board are suspected. (see below picture, part of main board)

Hi,
I'm Sony tech and can help you to fix this cd player.
CDP-C365 is 1994 cd player, mostly loading belt got cut/ broken in 16 years service, take off top cover and inspect loading belt, replace it if found cut/ broken.
Next possibility is loading mechanism got misaligned for any worn out gear that needs visual check, let me know if you need part number info about broken parts.
