There is a good chance the freezer drain is plugged up. You will have to remove the back panel and pour hot water in the dain area to thaw the ice and then flush the drain.

SOURCE: Ice and water on bottom of freezer

sjlobo, sounds like your defrost drain pan is frozen over or has some gunk in it. When the unit goes into defrost the water is running onto the freezer floor and out the front. Remove the lower bin and check the drain hole. You may have to remove the freezer back panel. If you can, just use some very hot water and some sort of baster to unfreeze the drain. Check this first, Catriver..post back.

SOURCE: Bottom of freezer has water dripping into it

We had a similar problem. It ended up being a frozen pea that fell down into the defrost drain and was blocking the water from draining out each time the freezer defrosted.

SOURCE: Maytag side by side is leaking water from the freezer sid

We also had the exact same problem with our Maytag side by side. We kept getting a small puddle down on the floor under the freezer side of the unit. There was also a giant ice block puddle that had formed on the inside bottom of the freezer compartment. We solved the problem in about an hour. First, we pulled the unit out from the wall and checked behind and underneath the unit with a flashlight. The little drip pan that collects the water was completely dry. That told us that there was a plug somewhere in the drain line. We removed all of the food and shelves inside the freezer so we could access the inside, back panel. My husband unscrewed the two bolts and removed both panels. We found the problem. The drain pan had frozen and all of the water was overflowing inside the freezer compartment and ultimately out onto our floor. There was also a giant snowball around all of the wiring. We used a heat gun and gently de-iced the snowball and the ice in the drain pan. The manual also says you can use a hairdryer for this. Then, my husband used his air compressor and gently blew into the hole to clear out the blockage. We checked behind the unit again and saw that the clog had released and water was flowing into the drip pan. Problem solved. It is important to get the clog out of the drain line so that the problem doesn't occur again. We put everything back together and everything seems fine now. I am also going to check the defrost timer to make sure it is timing properly every 28 minutes or so. You need your manual for this to determine steps to check the timer. It is important for the timer to be set correctly so that the unit goes into defrost mode every 28 minutes. This will also help keep the water flowing and draining w/out having time to completely freeze up. The original root cause of our problem is we had a faulty ice-maker. It had overflowed about 3 months ago. The heavy surge of water, and the small plug in the line is what started this. Another problem we have had with this unit is the plastic tubing in the back. We had one of the lines turn yellow and crack. So every few months we pull the unit out from the wall, vacuum underneath and check the plastic tubing for leaks and breakage.

SOURCE: Water is pooling in the bottom of the freezer

Your evaporator coils frost up in normal use and every eight hours or so the entire unit shuts down and the defrost heater comes on to melt the frost. This cycle last about 20 minutes. The melted frost drips into a drain pan and through a drain tube to the drain tray under the freezer/refrigerator where it's evaporated by the condenser fan.

Your drain tube may be stopped up with ice at the upper end because it drains too slow because it's stopped up at the lower end in the evaporator pan under the unit at the floor. It can get dust and mold in it. Once you get the ice out at the top a little pressure with a turkey baster will usually clear it out. Flushing it out with hot water and clorox may help.
Make sure it drains quick enough to prevent refreezing. . The drain should be located below the evaporator coils on the lower back of the freezer

Testimonial: "THANKS... it's all defrosted and cleaned out and will wait to see what it does tomorrow after it's all back up and running again !! Thanks !"

HI,
The rails got water in them and froze. The only way to correct this is to remove them, allow to dry completely, like 1 or 2 days. Re install them and it should be fine. But the down side it the door won't stay closed during this process. You can order new rails but your rails aren't defective. It your option to elect which one of these you wish to do. If you are under warranty, have them replaced with new ones and keep the old ones.
I hope this helps

I have a maytag MSD2754GR, the freezer bottom is all iced

The drian hole has become stopped up and ice has accumulated in the the drian hole. You will need to unplug the fridge and remove the cover on the back (located at the bottom, 6 screws). On the freezer side there is a drian hole with a rubber 90 and a clear line that runs to the drain pan. Remove line and unstop. Don't not put the line back on yet.

Now for the fun part, remove the basket and the two bottom shelves from the freezer. Half way up the back there are 2 screws that need to be removed. After removing screws pull up on the top cover to so you can remove the bottom cover. The bottom cover maybe froze to the coils and to the inside drain pan. Break the ice with a butter knife, and remove cover ( do not hit the coils). Now you need to break the ice that is froze to the the pan and under it. Once you have remove all the ice you will see the drain hole, use a small pointed object to break ice that is in drain hole. Now you can put the drain line back on and make sure that the other end is in the drain pan under the fridge. Now reassemble the fridge and plug it back up.

It took me about 20 minutes to do this.

Hope this helps.

Maytag side by side

I have a Maytag side by side MSD2456D and water is running out bottom of freezer door onto floor. There is ice on the freezer coils and there is what looks like a drain tube with a plastic wrapping. I think water is leaking there and freezing on coils until it defrosts ice.Water then appears to run down inside of freezer and out bottom door seal.

Does any one have a suggestion on repair parts. How about owners/repair manual

Crisper door/water line freeze problem

mar...you're box is set too cold. Use -17 C/38 F on the freezer side which is about 38F/4C on the fridge side. Use an outdoor thermometer and let it sit closed for at least a few hours. Adjust accordingly and this will work out. One adjustment is often the cold vents from the freezer into the fridge. If set too wide, too much cold air gets into the crisper and water lines.
