Save yourself the repair call and replace the gas coils. They're a $30 part and it takes all of five minutes. Works like a charm.

Check coils on burner assembly. Often when a dryer heats initially and then stops heating a coils has gone bad.

Maytag electric dryer smells like its over heating

Suggest you clean the lint trap AND THE exhaust hose. If either is blocked up, the dryer could overheat - and cause a fire if it gets too hot.

Ihave a maytag atlantis gas dryer model mdg7400aww that when I first start it up it gets warm but then stops heating? what is the problem

The operator coils get hot and quit on these ,when they get a little age on them, quite difficult to diagnose. If the coil feels hot to the touch after failure then that is a clue. f00c98f.jpg

My maytag gas dryer timer does not turn, does not get hot, does not shut off unless I shut it, why?

HI. This will occur when the timer mechanism(timer motor assembly), becomes fused, or the motor itself has failed. The timer mech is the main initiator of all the selected cycles. If the timer is unable to rotate properly, the unit will not heat or stop as well. Replacing this defective timer module will correct this issue.

I love the Maytag Atlantis!!! This sounds like your motor may be bad. It's NOT the element or it would not heat at all. Hope this helps!

Maytag atlantis gas dryer, will start, heat up but then no heat

Try running it with the vent disconnected and feel the air coming out of the dryer. It should have good flow. If it dries good, your pipe may be clogged.

Maytag Atlantis MDG8400AWW Dryer Runs Cool

I had a similar problem years back. It was the ignitor. The ignitor is a ceramic like piece that heats up (glows red) that ignites the gas. Typically when that goes, you will see some white residue build up where it cracked, thus breaking the electrical connection. This thing works like a heating element on an electric stove, but rougher looking.

The part was about $30 at my local parts store. I bought an extra one just in case so I have it on hand. I installed it with common tools.

You can check it to see if you lost connection by using a volt meter.

Good luck.

Mytag Dryer ModelLdg4000Aw

I have a Maytag Atlantis Gas Dryer that will turn on, rotate, but will not get hot and dry the clothes. A load of clothes in the afternoon, didn’t dry, tried again but didn’t dry – went to bed after putting on auto dry - next morning the dryer was still rotating and didn’t turn off. No hot air – only cold air.

Maytag Atlantis MDG7400AW Gas Dryer not drying clothes

This problem doesn't sound right, but you could have a bad moisture sensor.
