Some Gigaset phones have an option to have the answering machine play an outgoing message only without taking a message. You should check your settings and make sure you don't have yours set up this way. This could also happen if the memory for the answering machine is full so that it cannot record any more messages.

How do I get Mail light to go out?

You have unheard messages on the voicemail system provided by your telephone company. This system records messages when someone calls while you're already on the phone. Please contact your telephone company for instructions on accessing their voicemail system.

How do I record new greeting on panasonic's KX-TD7685

The KX-TD7685 isn't an answering machine.

To record a greeting on your answering machine, please refer to the manual for the answering machine. If you require further assistance, please reply to this post and specify the make and model of your answering machine.

Message Waiting Indicator (MWI) light stays on since VoIP

There maybe different MWI options available in the phone's set up menu on the base unit. If so, see if the different options perform differently. Your phones are probably set to "FSK" (frequency shift keying) for MWI but IIRC, U-Verse uses the "Stutter" option. Also, in addition to talking to the installer, call ATT tech support. If the problem is in the signalling they may now have programming options on their end to resolve it.

I have a gigaset 8825. I have a "distinctive ring" problem

Hello,

I have the same phone system, and *think* you may be able to fix the problem by adjusting the amount of rings before answer on each unit. This assumes there is an auto answer system engaged. Hope that helps some.

Started saying "Enter Mailbox 124"

Try checking to see if Auto Attendent has been activated at the base. Auto Attendant acts as a virtual (though confusing!) operator if you have multiple mailboxes activated. When it's off, Mailbox 1 should be the default and just play your recorded greeting only.

P.S. I had a similar problem and figured out it was actually saying mailbox Enter Mailbox 1 to 4. ;) Hope this Helps!!
