beeping sounds are warning to users that computer parts need servicing, it may be memory cards , hard drive , fans or power supply, call tech support if system is still under warranty.
I would say you have a failed memory (RAM) module. Probably a module in one of the secondary slots since the computer is able to POST and will attempt to boot.
Guys - she has the protable!! Hi Fiona, the best bet is to visit www.invebo.com and check the SounDock Portable diagnostic video. (Repair video is there too) Remove the battery and plug the power in., If you get a beep-beep sound then the unit has power and is booting up so you need a docking connector replacement kit. . If there is no beep beep then it is the power supply or the main unit. (Try a different power supply) . If it works normally then it is the battery - get a new battery. Hope that helps.
You need to listen to and wirte down how many beeps and in what order, ie, short beep, long beep, 2 short and a long, etc., and refer to your manual if you have one common beep code errors wind up being problems with ram but, could be something more serious. Complete make and model number would be helpful in looking into the specs on your system. It would be helpful to find out what version of Bios you have.
Check your CPU make sure its placed correctly and that you don't have too much contact grease, you only need a very small amount. If that's not the problem try re-seating your ram and video card. Other then that look at the power supply could be under powered! hope this has helped
if it is a continuos repeated beep beep sound your hdd cable is loose and if it comes at boot time only it is the sound for ram testing which says ram isok if a continuos long sound comes and pc doesnot start it is the case of ram fault try cleaning contacts of ram and ram slot with alcohol methyl or spirit or Absolute vodka works best.
un plug the RAM
then on the system without ram. if you hear the continuos beeps, off the system and fit the same ram properly.
if again you have the same problem, then Replace the New Ram.
