This is the 3rd one I have bought from amazon. The other two worked fine on the same computer. The walkman will sync with Windows Media Audio. The software, Content Transfer. was installed properly. Computer recognizes the player. I have pushed the reset button but to no avail. After charging on old laptop for four hours and synching my music, the walkman would not turn on.

I had the same problem. One day my Mp3 started acting weird and said it was not recognizing the files and that i needed to re download them. Try plugging it up to your computer while its charging and hit the power off. Then reset your mp3 with the button at the bottom and it should recognize it.
