Sound is ok but screen has got progressively worse and now flickers incessantly (though it may even take ages to come to life in the first place!).

SOURCE: When I turn on my

Hello,

The problem is related with the lamp and the t-con board of the television. Once they are about to develop a fault, that is when the screen will begin to develop some kind of flickering, sometimes, the screen can actually fade out in brightness and sometimes, the television can start tripping off on its own or you will have no picture but still have sound.

There are two components that can be responsible for this, but i believe it is the lamp of the television. The components are the t-con board of the television and the lamp.

Then if it is the t-con board the screen will go blank and the sound will still be okay. But if it is the lamp, the screen will not come on and the sound also will not come on either, but sometime it might act funny and the sound will come on but the screen will not come on.

Therefore, i strongly will advice you first check the t-con board, it is at the lower middle of the main board, then you check the lamp to know which is faulty. Once you know which is faulty out of the two, all you need to do is to have it replaced and the television will be in good condition once again.

If you are not familiar with such electrical job, i will advice you seek assistance from a friend who is electrically fit to do so, as the job requires a high level of technicality and electrical scopes.

Hope this was helpful to you.
Goodluck

You seem to have what is called error diffusion. Either call samsung about it and arange service or do it on samsung.com. What kind of warranty do you have? Depending on your date of purchase you might be able to get samsung to help cover it or pay for it all.

SOURCE: Samsunb 4051: TV screen turns off sound stays on.

Most likely this set has an "integrated" inverter, as most samsungs do--and this DOES sound like an inverter problem. Make SURE thought, there are no more bad "10 volt" caps on the power supply...ALL of them need to be replaced no matter HOW they look.

SOURCE: Samsung ps42p4h1x screen flickers and then goes

When troubleshooting these units, there are always several variables to consider. First check to see what last occurred with the unit such as did the children play video games, did the electricity go out due to bad weather. You may see that there are many possibilities but let's focus on what occurred last to the unit. Once we determine what happened last, we may isolate the actual cause of the problem. The actual cause may be associated with projection issues, older versions (Picture tube), interference from devices located nearby, and even a radio turned on and located really close to your unit. This is normally known as electromagnetic interference to electronics and is very common with the error you have provided today. Please continue to look for anything EXTERNAL to the unit before looking at the internal components. I have been working on these a long time so feel free to follow up with me.

SOURCE: Samsung LCD TV LA40S81.... Turn on

Hello
It is due to the power regulator section of your TV. If DC voltage come to T'con board and other circuit board won't have enogh regulated and smoothed current this type of fault will occur. Open your Tv and check for any bulged capacitors on the mains power regulator board. If there, repalce it with same type and capacity. I hereby attaches a picture, of an other set's power supply board with bulged capacitors to give you an idea about how a damaged and bulged capacitor will look like. Check this, If you want anymore assistance from me, feel free to get me by Fixya.

gopakumarg43_41.jpg Note the top of the red arrow marked capacitors. They are damaged. A ggod one will look like one you can see on the top right with flat top surface.

My TV has a severe flicker/jitter in the bottom left quadrant of the screen. How do I fix it?

The main power supply regulator section circuit fault. Either it will be a separate board, or the part of main board. Check and replace damaged component/s at its main power regulator [SMPS] section circuit. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts.
http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
It will be best to replace the power supply regulator board as card basis rather than making "Surgery" to it; which usually will make loss for both money and time. Even though you can make it right, it will cost around an amount equal to the cost of a new board; including the cost of (spare parts + service charge) More to say, most of the spare parts to it will be difficult to get from open electronic spare part market. This is true to most of the flat panel TV power supply boards; irrespective of its brand and screen size.

Flickering Screen on Model P105 Toshiba Satellite

on the back of the LCD is a cable that goes from there to the Motherboard. Try reseating that cable on both ends. If that doesn't fix it then it has to be a problem with either the screen or the cable behind the screen.
