Have you confirmed the freezer door switch is functional? If this switch fails to detect the door is shut (you may or may not get an alarm), the unit will fail to cool properly. Meaning the actuator will not allow cold air to be diverted to the freezer.
If all else fails, you may try contacting LG directly by clicking here:
yes, its located on the freezer; behind the rear wall. yours has 2 fans; one for the ice cube room (upper left corner) and the fridge/freezer motor (in middle) behind rear freezer wall. this is the motor you will need. the part number should be on it.
You may have to have a tech look at these voltages and get the correct Main PCB or Freezer Fan Motor for this unit. Awhile back, LG had a problem with "icing-up" in the freezer around the fan blade. They came up with a different Main PCB which lengthened the defrost cycle and adjusted the freezer fan cycling times.
problem may be the main pcb or evaporator fan motor. this unit has several problems. if the model# starts with a 795 it was made by LG. the er ff code is caused most of the time from frost building up around fan motor. this can also be caused by freezer liner sagging at the top of freezer causing frost build up, sears has a service flash for this that is covered by the manufacture. service flash sf46-512. iwould call sears and find out if your model is on this service flash.
The error code appears when there is an abnormality of BLDC FAN Motor for Freezer. It circulates cold air from the freezer to the fridge to allow cooling. Check the motor wiring harness for poor connections. If the motor is not working at all, you need to replace it. To remove the fan and motor assembly:
Remove the freezer shelf. (If your refrigerator has an icemaker, remove the icemaker first).
Remove the plastic guide for slides on left side by unscrewing phillips head screws.
Remove the grille by removing one screw and pulling the grille forward.
Remove the Fan Motor assembly by loosening 2 screws and disassembling the shroud.
Pull out the fan and separate the Fan Motor and Bracket.
