When we open the freezer the light does not come on. Replaced the bulb and realized after that the bulb still worked so now could it be in the switch?
Moisture can contribute to a bit of rusting at the point where contact is made between bulb and socket. Unplug fridge. Use a small piece of fine-grit sandpaper on the socket where the bulb will connect and then spray a tiny amount of WD40 to the socket. Let it dry for a few minutes. Replug your fridge and screw in the bulb. This works for fridge lights too and I've noticed whenever I have something like a cut melon in the fridge which causes condensation then my bulbs will go out and I have to do this sand and spray thing.
Hello Rick Cieri - From what you have described it seems like the unit could possibly be experiencing a wiring failure or communication problem coming from the main control board. Connect with a certified technician to accurately pinpoint any potentially more serious issues.
About the only way to determine what is causing the intermittent
lighting to your freezer is to do a little electrical testing with a
multi-meter. Also to press the door light switch in and wiggle it around may
help you locate a bad door switch that simply can be replaced if the light
decides to come on only when the door switch is pressed and released a certain
way. Click here=> GE_Monogram_Refrigerator_Service_Manual
Fresh Food and Freezer Light Diagnostics begin on page 46 of the PDF. I will be
here if you have any questions but most of the physical testing will need be
done from your end Testing the bulb sockets for firm connections and a good
steady 12 volts output and 120 VAC input. If helpful please rate, Thanks, Sea Breeze
Most likely, you never notice the light bulb in your freezer or refrigerator until it is not working. Then it is time to replace the bulb. This is especially important with freezers, which are often in areas with poorer lighting, like basements or garages. Fortunately, the task is a simple one.
Instructions
1 Unplug the freezer to prevent an accidental shock when you remove the light bulb.
Have a nice day! : ))
