Question about Maytag Neptune MAH9700A High Efficiency Front Loading Washer

1 Answer

Nd code displays. Washer works in wash mode until drain cycle. It doesn't drain water. At 19 minutes (first drain) machine stops & timer stays on 19 minutes. After 30 minutes manually drain, once

Drain hose is clear, drain pump is clear, technician said it was the drain pump but I find that hard to believe since I replaced the pump & still doesn't drain. What is wrong with this machine, I'm not calling Maytag again but will call "repair" company. Their diagnostic was completely wrong.

SOURCE: Maytag Washer Getting stuckon wash cycle

the possibility of it being the timer is most likely..as the rest of the cycles remain ok.. if you require a timer, you can get one here at this link..(click the link here) http://www.easyapplianceparts.com/AdvancedModelSearch.aspx?ModelNum=HAV4657EWW&mfgModelNum=&fkMfgID=1

please be aware that you will need the machine serial number in order for them to issue you with the correct part/s you will require.. parts are cross referenced with the serial number.

these diagrams will also enlarge in order for you to maintain your machine by yourself at little but the cost of the parts required... but please DO NOT ATTEMPT ANY REPAIR YOURSELF if you think you may not have the technical know how to follow these technical drawings..hope this helps

SOURCE: Maytag Neptune Error COde "nd"

This is now the 3rd time this has happened. The 1st 2 times it cost me ~$100 to have a technician come in and fix.

This time, I did it easily. For my Maytag Neptune washer, I removed the back panel (2 screws). On the bottom tray is the water discharge pump. On the output side of the pump there is a small cavity under the rubber flapper where a nickle fits perfectly. I removed the nickle, reattached the output drain line. started it up ...

and viola! the problem solved.

I need to find the reset button. It will not drain. This has happened before but I can't remember where the reset button is.

Sometimes, small objects or articles of clothing can get caught in the drain pump. To determine if anything is blocking the drain pump, remove the drain pump and check the pump for obstructions. If the drain pump is clear of obstructions, but is still noisy during the drain cycle, replace the drain pump.Sometimes, socks and other small articles of clothing can get into the drain system and clog the pump hose or the pump itself. Remove the hoses from the pump and check for any obstructions.First, check the drain hose to determine if it is kinked, twisted, or bent. If the drain hose is bent, straighten it out. In addition, remove the drain hose and check it for obstructions. If the drain hose has any obstructions, try to remove them. If necessary, replace the drain hose.

What does code f03 mean

An F03 error code on many front load washers indicates a failure to drain properly. You can usually clear this fault code by pressing the pause/cancel button. Next, check the drum for water. If the drum still has water in it, restart a drain and spin cycle. This should drain the water from the tub.

If your washer will not drain, check the drain hose for kinks or clogs. Make sure that the drain hose is not stuck more than 8 inches down the stand pipe.

If you do not hear your drain pump running, you may have a problem with your control or your drain pump. Also, if your pump is making a loud noise, it may be clogged. These problems would require service by a technician.

Machine doesn't drain or spin The machine is a bosch axxis less than a year old I believe.

Hi Andrew.

Parts that may be responsible for the problem and that must be inspected or tested are drain system, pressure switch, pump and control panel.

Troubleshooting will start from the drain system.

The drain filter connected to the pump is the first part to be checked. With Bosch Axxis the drain filter access is located in the front side at the bottom. In recent models you need to remove the trim panel at the base and you find the access cap. Older Bosch have a door in a corner. Behind the cover or panel you find a cap that can be released turning anticlockwise. Before starting disconnect power and keep a container ready to collect a good amount of water.

The drain hose at the back must also be checked to make sure that there is no blockage and that the hose height is set according to manual for the specific model. If the hose is set incorrectly the water will flow back from the drain hose into the tub, drain will not end and the machine will not advance to spin.

After checking the drain system inspect the pressure switch. The pressure switch is the device that detects the water level, when the switch is faulty the machine often does not drain or spin. The switch is located in the control assembly, near to the timer. To access the switch the machine must be partially disassembled. The pressure switch looks like a plastic disk with three or four electrical connectors. The switch is connected to a long thin rubber hose that extends inside the tub. Before replacing the switch try cleaning the rubber hose and the switch nozzle. Excess of detergent may clog the switch, causing malfunction that often affect the drain and spin part of the cycle. The switch is not an expensive part and it is difficult to test. The switch is tested reading Ohms ( or Volts) at its terminals with tub full and empty. Testing must be done by a trained technician. If cleaning the rubber hose does not do the job I suggest replacing the switch.

If the drain system and pressure switch are fine the next step usually consists in checking pump and eventually replacing the control module if pump and all the rest mentioned above are OK. Before replacement the module should be tested reading volts during cycle or checking test points in service manual.

If the machine is a built in model it must be moved out from its housing. The instruction to mount or remove machine from housing are illustrated either in the owners manual or in the installation manual provided with the owners manual.

Checkup of the drain filter and drain hose are operations that can be performed by the user. Cleaning the pressure switch hose is not a difficult operation, but requires partial disassembling and must still be performed by a technician. Testing of pressure pump and control panel should be definitively done by a technician. The parts that fail more often when there is no drain or spin are drain system or pressure switch. If the machine is running through the cycle and there is no error code the problem is unlikely pump or control panel.

Start performing the user level operation detailed at start of my comment. Remember to disconnect power before performing any maintenance operation. If you need to call a technician ring the number listed on the owner manual.

Regards.

My Hotpoint wdm73 won't drain. how do I fix it?

  1. You will need to gain access to the drain pump through the bottom of the Washing machine. Remove the Drain hoses from the pump, clear any debris, change, etc. If it is clear, or the error continues after clearing, replace the drain pump.
  2. If you replace the drain pump and it still won't drain, you will need a new Control Board.

The washer will not spin. All the lights are flashing and the indicator has an "LD" showing. The washer is 4.5 cu ft, 2006.

LD does mean long drain so the best thing to check is the drain pump itself and the connections to the drain pump. Remove all the water out manually (as much as possible) then tip the machine backwards so you can get underneath of it. Near the back is the drain pump and it's connected to the drain hose itself. Disconnect the drain hose as well as the hose coming from the tub and see if anything is jamming the drain pump motor or hoses. If everything checks clear and good, replace the drain pump motor, otherwise just clear out the blockage.

We have a maytag neptune front loading washer and during a load the washer stopped and is flashing "nd" what does that mean

I believe that is a No Drain situation. Check the drain hose to make sure it is not too far in the drain standpipe...It should only be inserted about 6-7 inches. If it is submerged in the standpipe water it may cause a siphoning effect and pull drained water back in tricking the pressure switch. After a few minutes of this it will error out. You may also have a blocked pump not allowing water to drain at all. I believe this unit is only serviceable from the back panel depending on which model. Lots of water mess will occur when trying to clear the pump so have many towels ready and the unit unplugged. Try taking the hoses from the pump and taking the pump out so you can see in it and clear it of hairpins, coins, pencils, socks, or many other items normally found in the pump. If the impeller does not have a slight resistance then a quick ":flick:" movement then it may be ready for replacement. This movement can be checked by sticking your finger in the pump while it is removed from the unit and try turning it 90-180 degrees before it flicks to the next pole on the internal magnet. If it feels gritty or very sluggish...or if it just spins with no resistance it is bad.

A tip before removing the pump hoses is to get a bucket or catch can and lowering the drain hose from the wall to close to ground level and see if water will flow out...that will allow you to drain the bulk of the tub water if it is not clogged completely. Just lift the hose to stop the flow until you can drain the catch bucket and repeat.

Good Luck!

The grey drain hose split, anyone know how to replace this? Is it attached to the drain pump in the front? Also discovered that black drain tube is clogged at the front filter. This tube seems to be...

the drain hose is indeed attached to the pump area... sounds like you may be on well water if it is breaking the hose down that bad... if not that is unusual to have hoses break down like that... its not hard to replace the hose as they just have hose clamps on them ,but yes you do have to tear apart unit to get down to drain pump assembly... some of the units have a front kick plate you can remove to get to them and some you actually go into from the rear... i didn't look this model up but we work on all appliances and normally there is a way to access the drain pump.... some units front loaders you can actually tilt up and the bottom plate will remove to gain access to it also... just going to have to look around and make access the easiest way for you... once your in though it is a simple task to replace hose...

I unscrewed the lower panel on the front and cleaned out the large black round cap on my LG Tromm Washer. I blow thru the small rubber hose and it sounds clear. I am still getting the OE when getting to...

As you know OE is drain error. you still have a drain problem and this could be because the pump impeller has a coin or similar jamming it, or it could be that the pump motor itself is failing. If the drain hose is clear and not kinked and the pump is working the machine should drain........Good luck....Nomess

Water fills the despenser cups (softner, bleach, etc.) and does not drain when washing cylce is complete.

YOU MIGHT HAVE SOMETHING STUCK IN THE PUMP OR A BAD PUMP. BOTTOM LEFT IN FRONT, THERE'S A ACCESS DOOR. OPEN IT THEN DRAIN THE WATER OUT THE SMALL HOSE(IT HAS A LITTLE PLUG). OR TRY TO LIFT THE FRONT OF THE WASHER UP AND PUT A 2X4 THERE AND PUT A TRAY TO CATCH THE WATER WHEN YOU OPEN THE PUMP HOUSING CAP(BECAREFUL NOT TO BREAK IT, WHEN STUFF GET STUCK IN THERE, YOU MIGHT BREAK IT IF YOU YANK TOO HARD). CHECK INSIDE THE HOUSING FOR ANY THING(SOCKS, UNDERWEAR, HAIR PINS, BRA UNDERWIRE, ETC) BELIEVE ME, I'VE SEEN IT ALL. IF ALL CLEAR AND STILL DOESN'T PUMP, YOU MIGHT HAVE BAD DRAIN PUMP, YOU HAVE TWO, A RECIRCULATION AND DRAIN. IF THAT IS THE CASE I CAN WALK YOU THRU STEP BY STEP TO REMOVE FRONT PANEL AND CHECK AND/OR REPLACE PUMP
