The points may be closed up . This would complete the ignition coil circuit heating the coil but as the points would not open there would be no spark. First check that the distributor shaft is rotating and the contact point gap is set corectly when the rubbing block of the points is on the edge of the distributor shaft cam. From memory the gap should be .45 mm or 20 thou . Failing that the coil could have shorted out internally. Make sure if you replace the coil that you get the correct coil for the car.
Ignition module gap Place a business or index card between the fly wheel and coil, rotate until the magnetic attraction pulls everything tight together. Tighten the coil screws, rotate the flywheel until the attraction abates and remove the card. Ensure nothing contacts when the flywheel is rotated.

Ignition Coil Test by SmallEng.com http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L7WNBDRG4C4 You may need to use a jumper wire between the threaded part of the plug and the cooling fins. You do not have to bend up the electrode. Ignition module gap Place a business or index card between the fly wheel and coil, rotate until the magnetic attraction pulls everything tight together. Tighten the coil screws, rotate the flywheel until the attraction eases and remove the card. Ensure nothing contacts when the flywheel is rotated.

worse case is that it is the ignition coil itself. the only way to test it is to install it on the machine and do not hook up the kill wires and try and start if it shows spark then there is a short in the saw(ie. chaft wire or broken wire) if it doesnt show spark you know for sure its the coil.
Specifications for a Mac 130 can be found here: Chain Saw Collectors Corner http://www.acresinternet.com/cscc.nsf/ed1d619968136da688256af40002b8f7/c1f32b7598cccadd88256c2f0019c792?OpenDocument Ignition coil gap: An index or business card is a good gap tool. Remove the plug, rotate until magnetic attraction pulls coil and card tight to flywheel, tighten the coil screws. Rotate flywheel until magnetic attraction eases, remove card, rotate a couple of revolutions and ensure nothing drags or contacts flywheel. HTH Lou
Hi Freddie ignition- to- flyweel gap means flyweel magnet positioned under the ignition coil armature.Remove the flyweel.Check the flyweel key(if it is sheared off install a new one).Remove the ignition coil.Clean the flyweel magnet and the ignition coil armature.Check the ignition coil wires and terminal to have continuity.Remove the breaker points cover, check the condenser and breaker points(they should not to be burned). The ignition breaker point gap and ignition-to-flyweel gap is 0.020" and the spark plug gap is 0.030". regards savumihai71
