Bidirectional Printing - A means of printing by a computer printer which prints one line from left to right, then the following line from right to left. Such printing is faster than printing in one direction only, as there is no need to wait for the carriage or other imaging mechanism to return to the left margin before starting a line. how to enable bi-directional printing.here's how:
-click on start
-click on printers and faxes (control panel->printers and faxes)
-right-click on Dell Photo All in One Printer 964 All-In-One icon
- click on properties
-click on ports tab
-down at the bottom there's a small box before bi-directional support
-tick the box to enable it then click apply,ok
-try printing again
note: in vista , printers and faxes is printers.in win 7 ,it's devices and printers. and properties in win 7 is printer properties
As for the 964 printer, ues you can make it wireless by using a Dell Wireless Printer Adapter 3300 or some type of wireless print server. To install the drivers for the 964 printer, you will need to post in the Dell Printers Forum, as the printer drivers on a Vista machine are a little tricky to install but I have my 964 printer working with a 3300 , (thanks for Rick dell forum)

i have the exact same printer and this is what i did even though i took out all of the paper ( i thought) i got a flashlite and i opened up every thing that i could and then i looked and wow lots of little pieces of dust and some paper too so i removed all of that and after powering it up again it worked just fine so you may want to try that ok hope this helps solve your problem.

First do your scan on Dell 964 scanner &printer. Scan to clipborad. You hear it scan but nothing happens on your computer. Go to control panel - scanners and cameras - scan profiles - find the document you have scanned, select it and click edit - click preview - in the left corner you will see in blue "How to scan a picture" click that, it will lead you to Windows Photo Gallery - there click on file and import from scanner of camera - it will scan there and your scanned pics will be in your picture folder :) Took me a while to figure it out :) You can avoid all this and go directly to Windows Photo Gallery :)
How is it plugged first of all, did you set it up as a dell printer in add printer?
try adding it as a HP printer since they are HP printers with the Dell name.
