John Deere L130 riding lawn tractor will not start what do I do?

I'm assuming the motor will crank over, but not start. Remove the air intake cover & filter off the carburetor air intake. Do you smell gas? Is gas dripping out of the carburetor? If not, spray a couple shots of starting fluid or carburetor cleaner into the carburetor air intake throat. Close the choke & crank the engine. If it starts, & stalls, repeat the process. If it won't stay running, your carburetor float jet is gummed up & needs to be cleaned. Check & clean the spark plug. Does the spark plug fire when the engine is cranked? If no, then you have an ignition problem.

I have a Z445 with a Briggs & Stratton 23 hp V twin, the air filter will not seal, lets trash into engine. It smokes, uses lots of oil. Can I put a Honda or Kohler on it, don't want another B &...

Hi, yes you can. You will need to take the model, type and code numbers with you to a Kohler or Honda dealer. Either will have a listing on an equivalent engine. Regards Phil.

Mowerdeck will not engage...

I own a similiar John Deere model (L130, 23HP with a 48" deck). I would check the electric clutch (called a PTO). To do this check the wires to this clutch and look for something disconnected. These wires (to this PTO clutch) should have twelve volts with the key on and the blades engaged.

JD L120 riding mower keeps dying on me

Loosen fuel cap 1 turn to see if it will stay running.Theres a tank breather hole/vent in the cap and when it becomes plugged no air can get into fuel tank when fuel is used, can also be a plugged fuel filter.
