It could be one of two things, either your monitor is bad or the video card is bad. Try taken connecting your monitor to a different computer. If the monitor works then it the video card. You could just purchase a new video card and put in and it should work

SOURCE: Dell (ie optiplex 330) would not boot with the orange light on

Do you have a lot of accessories plugged in? They may have overloaded the power supply and if this is the case you will need to buy new power supplies. If this is not the problem, check to make sure that the computers have plenty of ventilation in the back. If they don't, they may have overheated and melted quite a few different components.

SOURCE: Error: Cannot Display This Video Mode

I fixed the problem as follows:

1/ Uninstall the existing display driver through Device Manager
2/ Reboot the PC - Should display fine with default Windows driver
3/ Install new display driver from windows update or DELL Support

All should now work fine.

Hi,
If the power light is blinking amber, the computer is receiving electrical power, but an internal power problem might occur.

Ensure that the voltage selection switch is set to match the AC power at your location, if applicable.

Ensure that the processor power cable is securely connected to the system board.

No video on my optiplex 330 and lights 2 and 4 are lit on the front

You could try to connect a different, working, monitor first. Should this not work, then you can be fairly sure that your monitor is good, but the problem lies either with your motherboard or just the integrated video circuitry on it. That being said, there's usually an option of installing an auxiliary video card on the motherboard expansion slots - preferably an AGP or PCI-X16 graphics card. Should you care to provide me the service code number for the tower, I can check with Dell to see which type card can be installed on this motherboard. Thanks!

How can I solve a problem with my Desktop "Dell 330 OPTIPLEX" which lights orange on the power button when I try to power up my computer?

Hi

The symptom you describe indicates a power issue, the most likely cause the PSU in the unit is failing, if you have a lot of USB devices connected try removing some of them, You could also try removeing all connected devices other than monitor keyboard and mouse and see if this will allow it to boot, but the most likely fix is going to be a new Power Supply unit.

It is dell optiplex 755 ,when i on my pc it freeze after a certain seconds & not display to the monitor.

Do you have a good working monitor that you can troubleshoot with? I would make sure the monitor isn't going bad first. Then if you're still having the same issue, try re-booting in safe mode and run a virus scan.

Dell optiplex hardware failure no screen when I turn it on. What do i do to get the screen to come on. thanks.

Hello,1st Is your computer turning on? Fans spinning? any beeps?
2nd Please check to see all the connections are properly connect (VGA,DVI,Power)3nd - Is you monitor on the right input? VGA,DVIIf you can confirm all the above is correctly plugged and set then you have 2 things that could of failed.1st - your video card. The vidoe card outputs the video signal to the monitor. One reason you make not be getting video feed
2nd - your monitor. try swapping cables or monitor and see if you get any picture.
Is your PC still under warranty? Dell will replace the video card if under warranty.

Hi there! please show me or tell me what to do with my Dell Optiplex 330, When i switch it on the fan runs and it displays but it does not go beyond the DEll POST screen. thanx timothy

It sounds to me as the expensive part is OK.
First try and boot from your System CD. If that works then your system software is corrupt and a repair is required. To do that, load the rescue/system disk and follow the "Repair your system" prompt. That will fix your problem, if that option is not available and the computer boots OK from the CD then re format your hard drive and then you can put a fresh install system on it restoring your data from your back up discs.
Hope that helps.

GX520 screen display message: cannot display this video mode

This means that the windows setting you have set can not display on your current monitor. There are two ways to fix this, one is to boot the computer in safe mode by pressing f8 after the POST screen and change the resolution and the other is to plug the computer into a different monitor to see if supports that resolution and then change the resolution in windows to a lower setting.

In case you don't know how to change the resolution in windows, follow below.

Right click on the desktop
Properties
Settings at the top
Move the slider to 1024x768
Click ok

Try rebooting. If that still doesn't work, try another resolution.

Error: Cannot Display This Video Mode

You may have to boot into safe mode and reset the video settings to a safe setting like 1024x768.

  1. To get into safe mode, continuously press F8 while the computer is booting up.
  2. Eventually you will get a Windows XP Boot Menu.
  3. Choose the option for Safe Mode.
  4. Go to Start, Control Panel and double-click Display.
  5. On the Settings tab, drag the slider bar to 1024x768.
  6. Click OK
  7. Shut down and reboot.
If the problem goes away, then you are good. Otherwise, you'll have to boot menu again (F8) and choose Enable VGA Mode.

You may need to install memory in matching pairs. If the new memory is a single 1Gb module and you didn't already have a similar one they may not work together. Try removing the original module(s) and see if it makes a difference.
