My computer does not seem to read the disk ive been trying for a while.
Sound like you are having 2 issues here :
First issue is your computer didn't read a disk if you mean that was installation DVD for windows 7 then you may having issue for DVD drive in this case you can install windows 7 from usb flash drive and how to do it just simple google it search for how to install windows 7 from usb flash drive or change the dvd drive. ( Make sure you got a good copy dvd for windows 7 installation. Sometime bad copy of disk can be an issue for dvd drive to read set up file.
Second issue is you are not sure if your computer is capable to run windows 7 it is not a big deal during installation you will have an option to run system compatibility with windows 7 if your computer doesn't qualify to install windows 7 it will tell you. It is always an good preparation to install windows 7 if you are done with bios update first.
Hey, no you dont need to update BIOS to install Windows 7 but i would recommend doing it anyway. Its always good practice to have latest version of drivers and firmware as they usually fix bugs in existing in older versions as well improve performance.
As for your CDs i would look at the Optical drive you have and perhaps use another computer to copy the Windows 7 to bootable USB drive and use that to install Windows 7.
Hope this helps.
Most lilely problem is that your computer is out of date and unable to run Windows 7, windows 7 is a 32 or 64 bit operating system, most of the x86 based systems were not a true 32 bit system. but with out the complete specs on your pc it would be hard to tell. It could be that you have a 64 bit win 7 disc. just need more info to make the call. At one time, windows had an upgrade tool that would tell you whether yoy could run win 7 or not, if it is still available, you can down load it and find out.
