Eaton viking imperial electric, stove oven door will not close completelty; circa 1996. are replacement hinges still availible?

The oven door hinges do not hold the door tightly closed. i have to prop a chair against the door to keep it shut. on its own the door stays slightly ajar ~5 percent. but that's enough to cause significant heat loss into the kitchen. eaton viking imperial electric range with coil elements, electronic control with 13 push-buttons/touch pads. the model is: RS3028W-1 serial number: NF31303737 the stove was made in canada by fridgedaire for eaton's viking imperial label. the oven is a "true" convection oven and it bakes like a charm. todate i have Never used the regular oven elements, only the convection cook element. So i want to reair the oven door rather than buy a new stove at overly inflated prices and that under performs.

To the owner of the Eaton Viking stove RS3028W-1, yes you CAN get replacement hinges!
I too, have this stove model (circa 1996) with exactly the same problem and I have spent the past 18 months looking for replacement oven hinges. I was very frustrated at the thought of having to throw out a stove that cooks and bakes wonderfully and has not needed any repairs till now and having to buy one of the new subpar ones that constantly need repairs. Plus you can't do canning on the new stoves and the few remaining coil models are extremely poorly made.
I have found 2 places that carry the hinges.
1. Reliable Parts, 1-800-663-6060. This company is located in Montrea (St. Leonard), Quebec.
2. Appliance Shark, 1-800-663-1176. This company is located in Barrie, Ontario.
The part number for the hinge is: 318-024-741

I hope this is helpful, and may you have many more years of happy cooking on this great stove.

SOURCE: my dryer will not heat up

most commonly its a fuse, but it could very easily be the heating element. but more tro the point, this is a site for computer problems, not anything else problems. for this kind of thing look up the manufactors' website for a phone number to contact. then ask them the problem. incidentally, if the element has gone, throw it out and buy a new one, as the element will cost you more than the rest put together. silly, but true.

I need to replace the elements in my old Eaton Viking stove from the 70's or 80's but I can't find the specs.

I have an early 70s GE stove that looks like that era Vikings. They are pretty much the same wattage, if I remember oven is 2,500 watts. You buy them by shape. You need the model number, it will be at the rear on a stamped metal tag.

I just take the old one to Canadian Tire and pick them off the shelf for about $36.00 CDN. Stove TOP, Stove Oven? Viking sell parts.

Or pick by the images. The stove top elements are just in two sizes. Given the model number and the element you need, I bet I could find them.

How to turn-off the self cleaning on an Eaton viking 1997 range

To turn off the self-cleaning cycle on your Eaton Viking 1997 range, follow these steps:
  1. Press the "Off/Clear" button to stop the self-cleaning cycle.
  2. Wait for the oven to cool down completely. The self-cleaning cycle can take several hours, so it's best to wait at least a few hours before attempting to turn it off.
  3. Open the oven door and remove the racks.
  4. Use a damp cloth to wipe away any remaining debris or ash from the oven walls and bottom.
  5. Close the oven door and press the "Off/Clear" button again to reset the oven.
  6. Your Eaton Viking range should now be back to normal and ready for use.

I have a eaton viking stove from 1987 . I NEED a video on wiring repair.

Unlikely you will find a video on a stove that old. The wiring schematic is on the back of mine. You might also find it in the control unit at the top.

You don't say what the wiring repair is, but I have replaced elements in the oven, both the bottom one and the broiler, and I have also replaced the top burners and the connectors to them. I have an early 70s GE. We keep saying we will replace it when it goes wrong, but it never has since.

Oven door hinge adjustment...?

Regarding the oven door not closing all the way and dropping suddernly to the floor, I called a local authorized service company and asked if there was a door spring (no). So the recommended solution is to have the hinges replaced. However, since the oven door didn't really hold its open position from the beginning, when it was brand new back in 01, I'm going to see if a new Viking oven has the same defect as ours. Then, it would seem like a good idea to take a chance on having it repaired.

Is replacing a set of oven door hinges something a person with reasonable mechanical aptitude can do?
