My old phone is sync'd to my Google account. The new phone is not yet. When I got the sales rep to change it all over, I ended up with multiple copies (sometimes 10+) of same contact.
The phone number is connected to the sim card and the text (mail) is connected to the internet, more precise to your google account.
On your new phone, downed the google app and setup your account on the new phone. You don't need to delete the account on the old phone, to do so. Google will notice you are using a new device and send you some warnings, because the don't know you are setting up the account on another device. Just ignore the messages. When you have to google account up and running on the new phone. just switch off the old phone and do all the messaging on the new phone.

SOURCE: cannot copy contacts from phone to sim card
previously check the phonebook memory status of ur sim it might be full some old simcard provides very less contact storage varies from 10 - 250 for newer sims
if sim is full then u can not copy contacts in it
or if it is not though then u can check ur sim by copying contact from inserting it in another phone if it works then ur mobile is faulty
Or
check it vice versa
if this is helpful let me know regards
SOURCE: I am not receiving any texts from people though
I switched the phone off and took the sim card out then put it back together and it is working fine now. though i still cant delete anything from my sim or save anything directly to it.
