SOURCE: pilot light will not stay lit
Clean the pliot light tube with a Q-Tip and alcohol. Clean 2 inches deep. This will increase the pilot light flame and it will heat up the thermocoupler so it will stay lit.
SOURCE: Too much flame on Rinnai Pilot light
On the end of the old pilot tubing there should be a small part. This "oriface" would have been inserted inside the pilot assembley in the same hole that the pilot tube screwed into. This small oriface has an extremley small hole in the end that reduces or restricts the gas pressure down to the low volume needed for a pilot flame. I bet that when you removed the old pilot tubing this oriface fell on the floor and rolled under the furnace. Find it, clean it and reinsert it. You will be fine. If you cannot locate it. You will need to buy a new pilot assembly. They come with a new oriface already installed.
Good luck..........

You have a white scale buildup in the gas valve outlet blocking the main gas flow. Take the valve apart and clean it.

THE flame from the pilot should shoot past the thermo-couple and heat this up and make a small amount of mili- amps to prove the pilot light is lit. ..So if the flame doesn,t go past the thermo-couple it won, make mili-amps or its tme to change out the thermo-couple, They only cost lest than $8:00 and you can change it!
