HI, check the following to address this issue.

1. No power to the dryer
Make sure there's power getting to the dryer. Check for a tripped circuit breaker or a blown fuse. Check the wall socket for power with a voltmeter or by plugging something else in.

2. Door switch / Door switch actuator lever
The dryer would not start with a broken door switch. Replace the door switch if found defective.

Most dryers have a door switch actuator lever - when you close a dryer door, it presses against the lever, which actuates the door switch. If the lever is broken, the switch would not activate and the dryer would not start. Replace the lever, if broken.

Note: Door switch actuator lever usually comes with the door switch assembly and it is recommended to get the whole assembly since there is almost no price difference between the door switch assembly and just the lever. Check your model for more details.

3. Thermal fuse
Most dryers have a thermal fuse, which burns out when the dryer overheats, in which case the dryer will either not run at all or stop heating. The fuse is usually located on the vent duct, inside the dryer. A blown fuse will show no continuity when measured with a meter. Before replacing the fuse, make sure the blower wheel is not broken or clogged, and there is nothing blocking the venting.

Note: It is recommended by most dryer manufacturers to replace a hi-limit thermostat when replacing a thermal fuse.

4. Timer
Replace if defective (note: uncommon problem).

**The most common issue here will be a defective Thermal fuse

Dryer is a week old. ran a cycle and dryer turned off. didn't trip breaker. wouldnt turn back on. so turned breaker off for a while then turned it back on. now dryer powers on but for only like 10 seconds...

A week old dryer should have, in its warranty, a condition that you can get them to exchange this for an identical (hopefully working) model free. Do it now, that is a short time window. It's usually one month.

KitchenAid electric dryer, Model # 750LQ, has a broken (I believe)cycle selector (timer) control. The dryer turns on when the control is activcated by turning to the right, but is not in automated mode...

If you are setting the unit on automatic and the timer itself is not moving forward to the shut off position and you have to manually turn the timer off then you would need to order and replace the timer itself. If you have any further questions message me back Thanks Rick
p.s If you need me to look up the part number for your unit please provide the full model number of your dryer and I will try to locate the part number Thanks Rick

My dryer panel is turning on by itself. when I shut it off, it turns back on after a while. A load of clothes is drying, and the dryer keeps making a beeping sound every now and again. It seems to be...

Many of your better dryers have an anti-wrinkle function. When a load is complete if you don't take care of it, every little while the dryer will turn on for a few minutes to fluff the clothes and beep to remind you.

Moved dryer out to reattach vent hose, now when turning on it buzzes for about 10 seconds then shuts itself off

Sounds like a poor electrical connection. Check where the cord connects to the dryer, and where the cord plugs in to the recepticle. Could easily be where the wires connect onto the recepticle.

Kenmore series 90 electric dryer will start, heat up and then shut itself off after about 5 minutes

take the bottom of the dryer off and check for obstruction in heat tube. if it is loaded with lint it will overheat and shut down. Use vacuum cleaner and clean it out. Also take exhaust tube off back of dryer and check that the tube leading to the outside is clean with no obstructions. Check baffles on outside make sure there is noone living in your vent tube to the outside.

Dryer shts down during load

Have not solved problem but after messing with it more I think that the hi limit themostat may be the problem. It seems like if I let the dryer cool down then try it again it seems to work fine for awhile. Does this sound like something that may cause it to shut down. The load problem didn't seem to a factor for I reloaded it with the original load weight. I have not replaced part yet going to try few more loads soon.

Roper dryer

Based on your desription... one of the thermal sensors is overheating , tripping..shutting you down until it cools down enough to reset itself... then you can run it again.. and that process repeats.. You may have a defective thermal switch... Hope that helps...

I had the same problem, take the easy rout first and check for obstructions in your venting. Mine was clogged and it shut itself down (to protect itself?)
